motor for hyper sc10

Hey guys, im looking for your opinions on motor selection for a hyper sc10. It will have a mamba max pro and 3s LiFe providing power. My goal is to have a cool setup and good runtime (15-20min per battery) on a large 1/8 track in the summer. I have a vxl motor and was thinking about a novak hv5.5, but since the mmp is on b.o., i have some time and value your opinions. Thanks

what about a the New 1400 series motors from NEU,they 36mm cans http://www.neumotors.com/Site/1400_series.html

the 1409 1y or 1509 1y would be a perfect motor for the truck

ok thanks, those look like what i am looking for

I say the hv 5.5 would do great, not that there is anything wrong with the Neu's. But why not Take advantage of the sensored esc, and they cost 1/3 as much.

yep they would also work very well.

My vote is for a 1509 w/the kv depending on set up. I have a 1509 3300kv running in my crt.5 on 3s and it is perfect

is the differance between the 1409 and 1509, other than size, torque? am i correct in thinking the 1509 has more torque?

I'll second that. I'm running a HV7.5 on 3S with a Havoc 3S. Truck is fast, motor barely warm, ESC cool.

i have plans for my slash...
even cooler temperature setup than this (so that means it's gonna be like anti hot? since ^ setup is already cool?)
i hope no one beats me to it......:eyes: they said i was mad...but i'll show them, i'll show them ALL MWAWAWAWAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA

So, it's gonna run so cool, you can use it as a beer chiller when your done driving. :D

1400 shares the same rotor as the 1500 series but has a diameter that is just over 36mm. power output would be marginal ,you won't notice the difference

do you think the new 1512 1.5y 1800kv motor would respond well to 2s or 3s lipo??

BrianG 12.31.2009 08:38 PM

That's not even 20k rpm on 3s. If you gear high enough to have decent speed, you might get cogging on startup as the ESC tries to find rotor position. A sensored system would tolerate this better. I would get a motor with a kv of ~3000 (for 3s) or 4500 (for 2s). Low kv isn't always best - it's about matching the kv with the voltage.

ok, thanks, sometimes i get these wild thoughts in my head and need you guys to set me back on the right track, i have decided to stick with lipo instead of jumping to life... thanks again brian
