Battery pack question
Hey guys,I bought two of these packs
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...C_LiFePo4_Pack and would like to make it into one single pack. How hard would it be to do this?My soldering is pretty good and my pack making skills are good but I have never touched one of these flat packs and when I looked at the inside there is a little board in there. Will it be a pain in the a$$ to do? |

One quick and easy way to do this would be to get a 4S balance plug. Or if you don't mind dealing with two balance plugs, you could leave them as is. Remove the shrink from both packs. Remove the Power leads from both boards. Place the two packs side by side, and attach the two packs together with double sided sticky. Then Solder the positive tab, (the one that you removed the power lead from), to the negative tab of the other pack. You can use a short piece of 10Ga. wire for this, since there will be a short gap to cross. Solder the Power leads back on, noting polarity. Red goes on Positive, Black goes on Negative. Verify Polarity with a test meter. Reshrink the entire pack with much larger shrink. Charge, install in RC, and have fun. I hope this helps. PS Be VERY careful not to short anything. This could cause hair loss and a really nasty spark. |
Thank you sir,how would I set it up for balancing with the 2 balance plugs?would I just plug them into the series part of my balance board.
|
If you can get a new balance plug for 4s (5 wires) it would be easier IMO. With the two separate plugs there will be a common wire between the two. If you use two separate balancers this isn't an issue. To use one balancer you would at least need to make an adapter.

This really depends on your balancer though. If there is any doubt, then you would be best to install a 4S balance plug. |
I have this balance board-
http://progressiverc.com/index.php?p...emart&Itemid=1 Could I not just plug each plug into one of the 2s ports-series |

If you look at the back of it you'll see that the extra wire is eliminated between each separate pack. |

If that's the case, it will work perfectly. |
Thanks for all the help guys. All the best for the new year.
