antennas on spektrum rx

Just took the plunge into 2.4 and was wondering if you guys extended the antennas a little on the rx to mount into a tube or just let them as is

Special type wire, don't even look at it.

Jabe 01.02.2010 01:44 PM

No need to extend, leave as it is.

so where do u guys put the wire? does it need to be placed in a special way?

magman 01.02.2010 02:08 PM

Ok I will leave it as is...

Coil it up with a small diameter tool like a screwdriver and just leave it as a little pigtail under the body. It's short enough that if you give it a good tight coil, it'll stay put without issue.

You need the wire to stick up at least 1 inch for optimum performance. I usually use a radio box or a mount that also has a antenna tube holder, then just cut a short piece of antenna tube to hold the wire. I leave it under the body, so it stays safe if I flip over.

I keep all mine inside the radio boxes- no problems thus far

I don't have a radio box...my rx are in balloons on top of steering servo..hence my concern of the wires moving and getting caught around servo horn

Upon further inspection, it looks like I have just enough wire to use a sm. mount and sm. amount of tube where the mount is now
