Savage Flux XL

I saw a link on another thread here about 24mm adapters for the Savage Flux. Well, in the pic it shows a HPI Savage Flux XL. I'm guessing HPI will be releasing an XL conversion kit or RTR truck soon. It doesn't show up in their January press release, so maybe next month. Looks pretty sweet with the 24mm 5T/B tires/wheels on it.

There was also an announcement that the Bajas are now equipped with HPIs 2.4Ghz DSSSs sytems. I expect this will be in the Flux as well before too long.

Either that or someone put Flux stickers on an XL to watch people on the forums go crazy  Honestly, I think a Flux XL would be an awesome truck. I don't like how stubby the regular Flux is, I think they sacrificed stability for the standing backflips but that's just me and my craze for big trucks.

We knew this was coming eventually. I wonder if they are still using the 1515 motor?
Very nice they are using the 24mm adapters. I can't believe no aftermarket people really made these yet.

Prolly be a pricey truck, very cool tho. Looking forward to the adapters and whatever little goodies they have hidden underneath.

Could be. You would think that HPI would redesign the body of the Flux XL and not just reuse the nitro XL body. Its not like they did that w/ the X and the flux. What would they leave the nitro motor holes and what not.
The paddle tires are a bit weird too. Lastly, HPI usually uses a white backdrop and side views, not black and a 3/4 view.

I want the 24mm adapters, so I'm going to hope its true, but count me as highly sceptical for now. No doubt one will come eventually tho.

kind of on an off note, the 5T paddles really show how massive the baja's are compared to a 1/8.dont know if id put that big of wheel tire combo on to begin with. flux power+heavy wheels=lots of ruined diffs and bones.--josh

The baja's never look as big on the screen as they do in RL. Everytime I see one I'm always shocked how big they are.

Still tho, the tires for the XL are huge too, but not nearly so heavy. They simply wouldn't do. I'd love to see the OEM 5T tires on the Savage tho.

Just a note....this pic came from the press release for the 24mm hubs, so all knowledge of the Savage Flux XL is rumor at this point. I just thought it interesting that it had a Flux XL sticker on it, looks to have batt boxes on the TVP's and wires running under the body.

interesting

anyone else notice its only single shock?

and on a side note, baja tires are smaller than LST xxl tires

Unsullied_Spy 01.19.2010 04:53 AM

Baja tires may be a little smaller, but they are a TON tougher. I've ripped up 40 series tires before, but Baja tires are significantly tougher. There are adapters to run 40 series on a Baja but people don't do it because they get torn up within 1 tank. $50/pair is a lot to pay for tires, but you get some GOOD tires for the money.

The Flux has always been a single shock setup.

Not sure on the XL flux, But tower is listing a savage Xss with the 5.9 nitro motor. Its showing order pending, but it shows HPI is setting up to play with the big boys
