Need Motor and ESC for E-Maxx
I am looking for some ideas for a motor and esc for my custom e-maxx. I don’t know the weight of it yet because I am still assembling it, but here is a list of what I have so far:
UE 8 Spyder Diff. Gear Sets 6mm Axle Steel CVD’s Titanium Center Driveshafts Racer X Pro Suspension Kit with Setback Arms Racer X Supershock Kit Titanium Pillowballs G-Maxx Alum. Chassis Chassis Ext. Single Speed Conversion FLM Hybrid Bulks Pro-Line Maxx Road Rage Tires RPM Monster Clawz StableMaxx Wheels Robison Racing Slipper Clutch (because no one has the Strobe slipper in stock) I am looking at the MGM Compro 160amp 24 cell controller but have no clue about what motor. For batteries I am looking at LiPo’s, either 2s2p 7.4V & 3s2p 11.1V combo (18.5V total) or 2 3s2p 11.1V combo ( 22.2V total) 8000mah, 96amp con. and 128amp burst. Any suggestion would be appreciated |
I would say that you should wait and get the strobe slipper.
What kind of speed are you looking at getting? |
For a 6s lipo (2 x 3s)set up I would go 9xl. Unless you like a higher quality motor i would say a 1950 8T.
|
I shouldn't need to go any faster than 40mph even if I race it.
|
i would go with the 1950 8 turn if you have the money.
|
or 1940 if you wanna get a little more run time - and Welcome to the forums..
|
I would prefer the higher quality motor. HotnCold you mentioned a 1940 motor, is that an 8 turn ?
What kind of gearing would be a good starting point and what size shaft is on the 1940 motors ? |
1940 has a 4mm shaft. A 8 turn or 9 turn would work in the 1940.
|
Coolhandcontry are you certain about the shaft size, because I just found their web site and it says that 19 series motors have 3.17mm shaft diameters.
|
You can get them with the 1/8 inch shaft. The 1940 and 30 has 4 mm. The 1950 has a 5mm shaft.
|
if i was you i would go with the 1950

Reason being.....is cause we all can't get enough POWAHHH!!:005: Or at least I can't wait to upgrade my motor again, but my checkbok can :035: |
What kind of gearing would I need if I went with a 1950 8T and what would the run time be (I know there are a lot of variables to run time but I am just looking for an idea). What would be the differance in run time be between the 1950 8T and 1940 8T?
Questions, questions and more questions!! |
A 1950 would have more torque and run cooler
|
If you run 2x 3s lipo wit hthe 8000mah. A 1950 8t would run you about an hour. The 7t would be great motor as well. I run my 1950 on 20cells and it is a blast. I get 25-30 min on a ib 3800 20 cells. 18 51 mod1 gearing with the strobe is a great starting point and should be about right for gearing. Your lipos are lighter than the nimhs.
