Battery warm, ESC warm and motor hotter?
So I had a read of the good guide about if your components are getting hot and what it means.
My ESC is just warm, battery is just warm but my motor after a full race with the 8T is a little hot, not burning, but hot. Using MMM/2200KV and Hyperion 4S 6500mah. Running gearing 15/48. Am I likely a little undergeared? |

Yup. Gear up a little till you find the sweet spot. |
How hot is "a little hot?". 130 degrees feels pretty hot to your fingers but really isn't an issue at all. Do you have a temp gun?
|
Like Jhautz said fingers are a bad indicator. What feels scorching to some is not to others. You really need a temp gun to get accurate. Also remember that the metal can of a motor will transfer heat quicker than a plastic esc case or a battery. IE: your finger gets hot quicker.

Sure, I'll use my temp gun next time to get a figure on it. Is it hot basically because it's spinning more than it should? Hence why gearing up a touch will increase the torque load on it but reduce the revs? Is that right?
