Bored of my E-28

Well I bought my 1984 BMW E28 533i about 2-months back and so far it has proven to be really tough. I am using it as a winter car and I love it. But I will only have it till around mid march-ish. I am looking to take out a loan for newer sporty car summer. I just need opinions on what you guys would suggest. The loan will be for $6000 so that is my absolute limit. I am going mainly for reliability and power. Dont know if that combo is possible at only $6000. I dont care about the age of the car as long as its in good shape mechanically and cosmetically and that its newer than a 1988. I prefer rwd with lsd. It has to be a manual! Ive been looking at mainly 240sx's, 300zx's, FC rx7's, E-36's, A4's, foxbody 5.0 mustang etc... Im an import guy for the most part. I dont like most american cars.

All suggestions greatly appreciated!

I haven't driven a rwd vehicle on lsd for some time. It was a long strange trip

The problem with most cars you will be looking for in that price range is they will have been dogged. I wouldn't touch a 240 because every retard within range of Earth has bought one a tried drifting it. That's the problem with most of what you listed, too many idiots buying them.

You can score a 96 or newer gt mustang for that price. I have seen some very nice examples go for less than 6k. Low mileage and clean. Out of everything you listed the mustang has the most power and parts are cheap and everywhere. Nothing against the 240 but "power" and "240sx" cannot be used in the same sentence unless you add "lack of" in there...

As for the rx7, fun car, but when the seals go you are in for a new motor. Nothing against European cars but anything used is crap IMO. Just too weird and parts are way too expensive.

linc is dead on, a newer model stang gt would be your best bet...

You could also look at the older Jaguar's or how about a WRX? I had a 91 T-Bird SuperCoupe and with an underdrive pulley and and a few other tricks it was crazy fast and road like a Caddy. If you want something different but close to unstppable on the steet you could look for a Buick GNX in good shape. The 80' something Olds 442 was quite a car too but the GNX normally had Lightning Rod shifters. Look it up they rock. Oh and never rule out a late 70's Vette.

I would never touch an older jaguar. Ive heard from to many people that they are garbage. I was looking at the mid 90's wrx's. Seals on 13b rx7 rotary's are not to hard to replaced. I helped replace the seals in a 13b in auto mechanics last year. Alot easier than rebuilding a normal piston engine. Plus I use to own/work on one so nothing will be new to me.

I have mainly been looking at 300zx's. My friend has a non turbo and it flies. I also love the looks of them.
