My first airbrush job.

Well i finally hooked up my airbrush tonight and thinned my paint. I played with the airpressure and gun for about 15 minutes.... and said hey this is easy lets get a body

well I found out Im not super consistant with my fade lines  so they ended up a little wider than i wanted, but hey for my first try painting with it after picking it up for the first time 15mins before hand im pretty happy with the outcome.

I gotta say the Iwata HP-cs brush worked flawlessy and was awesome with zero issues and the Faskolor paints sprayed with out a hitch also, id highly recomend both to anyone wanting to get into this.

anyways here are the pics, tell me what ya think, give me some pointers, blah blah, ive got 6 more bodies to paint this weekend.... (oh that crap i sprayed on the carboard was my only practice lol)

Looking nice man!

A lot better than anything you can do with a rattle can! Or at least that I can do with one! Still not for me though, I don't have the patience of waiting between coats and colors. I need a new body for my truggy and I'm gonna go simple with this one and go for visibility!!! Mains are run under the lights and with the blue on mine it was very hard to see.

i really enjoyed painting it and im looking forward to paint alot more. And honestly from begining to end including the back coat, changing color 8 times, and and complete dissassembly/cleaning of the brush at the end i only spent and and hour and 20 minutes and i was going slow doing the fades i bet the pros can knock the painting part out quick.

btw try running a white wing and atleast a white front half on the body and youll be set at night (all of our races are at night)

Darn nice job! Beats the crap out of anything I have painted:yes:

Looking good Ross, the more you do the easier it gets and you'll learn some techniques along the way that will simplify as you go.

magman 01.30.2010 04:18 PM

Ross..nicely done! I HATE painting bodies..that's why I have Andrew, RUSTY XL-5, do it for me:yes: and he does great work!

:intello:I think he just likes the fumes!:intello:

padrino 01.30.2010 08:29 PM

If that's your first definitely post more as you do them because it looks like you will be producing some very nice ones.

I am in the same boat as other posters, I have them painted for me :)

yup that was my very first time using the airbrush.

here is the second body which i did this morning for my slash 4x4. it turned out twice as good as the first one.... i did spend a little longer on this one at around 2 hours.

so let me know what you think of this one

E-Revonut 01.30.2010 11:11 PM

magman 01.30.2010 11:34 PM

rootar 01.30.2010 11:44 PM

btw if anyone wants to send me a body or two to practice on id be happy to paint w/e you want (nothing too crazy) ive been doing some practicing on other effects, so since ill be doing all of my race bodies the same style (as the slash 4x4 above) i would like to paint a few others in different trim, was just gonna throw this out there for the guys on here only, you can PM me if you want.

lucias 02.09.2010 04:37 PM

bruce750i 02.09.2010 06:11 PM
