Mounting a 1520

I'm going to mount my 1520 in either my Muggy, or in the LST. I bash hard, no racing, and expect some big part breaking jumps. I'm wondering if Mikes motor mount for the Muggy is going to be sufficient support for that big beast of a motor....Wondering if maybe I might be better off getting a Tekno style mount or something for it....

1717 or 1520 motor?

bdebde 02.04.2010 04:11 AM

WTF is a 1720??

pretty sure he got the "diesel power" 1520. In which Mike's mount should be sufficient.

I have the 1520 mounted in my mbnx5t truggy and holy holy is it long..Have bashed it once so far and it ran cool as can be

You guys stay up too late! Yes, I meant 1520!!!!

riverat1540 02.04.2010 10:33 AM

the biggest concern with the muggy is the stock chassis is as flimsy as they come and may cause the mount to bend from all the chassis flex, pushing the motor up, but mikes mount is pretty strong but it cant hurt to back up the rear of the motor if u really plan on running it hard.

Mike's mounts are pretty stout, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Don't land jumps on power and it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Bashed my truggy hard the other day w/the 1520 and Mike's mounton my mbx5t w/no issues

See here - this is how I drive.

riverat1540 02.09.2010 11:57 PM

but that 1520 will sit alot closer to the frame with the muggy mount a hard landing would cause it to bend up if anything, or if u hit something head on like i did, its not nessesary but if u know your going to bash it i could not hurt, plus it will help brace the chassis

My experience (with my driving) tells me that I need the strength in all directions. Skateboard ramps give you big air, and I only land on the wheels 25% of the time. Yes, I know its hard on the trucks/motors, but its what I do.

What about using a small brace in the rear of the motor for more support, similar to what the nitro Revo mount has
