Need a cheap controller for 380c 6l in a pede. (any ideas?)
I am looking for a cheap controller for my pede. I plan to run a 380c 6l motor in it on 7 cells (possibly 6 occasionally with possibility of 8 in the far future if needed). What are my options? I would really prefer to go with a cheaper setup as I am spending too much on these darn cars! (going full FLM on it which is going to hurt). Anyway... I know the mtroniks pro is reccomended but I beleive its 165 bucks. What about the warrior 7020? I heard its only about 125 or so bucks. Where can I get one of these? Is it similar to the 9920 as far as size/weight setup and etc? (I run the 9920 in the revo). Looking for a sturdy controller but still at a cheap price.
Thanks in advance guys :) |
The 7020 is same width and length as the 9920. It is only a little thicker. The cheapest I have seen them is on sale for 129.

who carries them?

But why loose so much over the sake of $35? The Mtroniks is very smooth, has no cogging problems, needs no reciever pack, is fully sealed and waterproof, and has some of the best customer support in the industry. The 7020 no doubt is a good controller largely because its voltage abilities (the Mtroniks Pro is limited to 12 NIMH cells or 4s lipo), but in every other way I reckon the Mtroniks unit is better, espically for 6-8 cells.

Hmm it is only a 35 difference. I have heard good things about the pro but didnt know if it was worth the difference. I forgot all mtroniks stuff is waterproof which is definitely a plus- one less thing to worry about while running.

Its definately worth it, I've ran one for almost a year, and am happy with it. To be honest I wouldn't consider any other controller for your application, for under 12 cells Mtroniks really do have good units. And they're planning a higher voltage controller for release in a few months..but thats a whole different topic :)
Above all, you get real customer service with Mtroniks, every time I've had a problem or question I just phone them up and they sort it out right away. Like, last week I damaged my Truck ESC (my fault), when they got it from the post service, they analyzed the problem, written the unit off and posted me a brand new one, same day, under warranty, and made a small design change to my unit so the problem I had can't happen again. |
