Carpet racing question?
So I have been experimenting with tires for offroad carpet racing. I need some input. I have three sets that are my favorites as of now... As set of knuckles on v3 wheels, a bald set of soft compound holeshots, and a set of hard compound offbrand's that I cut the lugs off of and sanded smooth. So far the best two are the bald hard compound and the knuckles... I like to be able to slide around a bit so as to take the turns without much steering, which the hard compounds do great but lack traction in the straight and short momentum jumps. The soft balds get a lot of traction and cause me to flip when hitting a 90 too fast. The knuckles get good traction and some sliding but are really tall compared to the others and also have some flipping issues.
So what else is being ran out there? Any tips on the matter? |
Have you tried the Calibers?
I tried them on my SC10 on carpet racing and found them to be pretty good in traction and sliding. |
have you tried foam tires?? if you can't find any LMK I know someone that can make a set for ~$20 a pair
also, traction compound goes a loooooong way when racing on carpet found some for you... http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-Foam-Dirt-Ov...item4838172fd4 |
There are a few using foams, seems like they burn through them pretty quickly though. Might have to give those a try though I was thinking about foams, I might try the Calibers as well... I have noticed that stock short coarse wheels do well. Especially those on my Slash 4x4, and those on the Blitz. Might look into some SC tires on sc8 wheels...
For 40 bucks I might have to try those foams... |
Those Ebay foams are for practice use only and will not hold up for racing conditions.

try the soft bald ones in the rear and the hard bald ones in the front.
