Need a little help with my speedo...

Alright, so maybe I'm still a noob at this (hope not), but I can't get my Mamba Max Pro to calibrate. Bought it new today, straight soldered all 3 motor wires to my Tekin T8 1700kv. Hooked up the sensor plug, soldered on the TRX connector and connected up my 4s Neu lipos. Nothing. Tested the Rx with a Rx pack - good to go.

All 3 LEDs blink at once, about 1 or 2 seconds apart, constantly. The Rx blinks once with them at the same time. What gives? Tried reversing the throttle on the M8, nothing. I tried my other Rx just to be sure and nothing. The motor wire points and the speedo wire points are labeled A B C, so I didn't screw that up. Suggestions?

Just out of basic curiosity, I hooked up my Rx pack and it worked. MAN this thing is fast.

You don't have the throttle servo connector in the receiver backwards do you? Make sure throttle trim is at 0 and the travel is 100% (or more) in both directions. If you still can't calibrate the radio to the ESC, try flashing an older firmware and then the new one again. I had a MMPro that was having trouble calibrating as well a while back and this seemed to help. Dunno if it was a coincidence though...

But would it calibrate with a Rx pack? The flashing 3 LEDs means no Rx signal, so I thought the BEC wasn't sending enough voltage to the Rx. I'm pretty sure I had everything hooked up right since it was running great when I had the Rx pack plugged in.

You must have posted while I was writing my post and I didn't see it. Yeah, if the RX pack allows the system to work, then the connector orientation is ok. Sounds like the ESC BEC might be bad. If you continue to run the Rx pack, I would remove the red wire in the throttle cable just so the Rx voltage doesn't "fight" the BEC voltage.

Roger that, I'll remember to do that. Should I call Castle on Monday and ask why it's acting like this? Oh, and I can't find any info on LVC settings? Is it auto from the factory?

The BEC output voltage is set at 5.5 volts and can be adjust via the Castle Link; it's the first setting on the Advanced tab. Try flashing the firmware like BrianG mentioned. If you have a voltmeter, you can test the output of the BEC. Just unplug the ESC from the receiver, power up the ESC (make sure the car is off the ground) and put the meter probes on the brown and red leads. If you're not reading 5.5volts, then there's a problem with the BEC.

If this is the case, go ahead and disable the red wire and run it for now. Give me a call or shoot me an e-mail and we'll get a replacement set up for you.

If you are reading the correct voltage, try plugging the ESC into the steering channel and see what happens. If it doesn't flash all 3 LED's, then it may be a problem with the throttle channel. This is very unlikely though since it is working with the receiver pack.

Thanks Thomas, I will give that a try.

I need a little help with my speedo also http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/s...st5s/bling.jpg .

Okay I have found out the problem is only when it is 3s and above. 2s works fine, BEC kicks in and it's normal, although it does have some cogging and other problems with a Novak 7.5R. I didn't want to run this motor setup anyway, but it was cheap from a friend so I took it.

I've always liked Castle products but this one is making a bad impression on me :(

GTX,

Please send me a PM with your shipping information; we have ourselves a bad speed controller. There was a small batch that had issues with anything above a 2s LiPo. We will need to get a replacement controller sent to you. I apologize for the troubles, but we'll get this sorted out and get you up and running.

As good as we are at "fixing" a speedo, there is nothing that can fix this. It should be burned, the ashes put in a lock box and dropped into the depths of the deepest, darkest ocean.

So thank you very much F5sR, I will have an image that will haunt my dreams for years.
