Pretty neat. Looks like you'll need mech. brakes to run with those right?

I'm really wanting to try one of these ESCS on a HV setup (8-10s) but 100amps? It just doesn't seem a lot.

And I'm really unsure how to calculate the amp draw of a setup. Can anyone explain it for me? Or the theory of running HV setups at low amps?

Thanks,
Nick.

100A at 10S = 3700W do you need more? :)

High voltage is for low amps. whats the point of high voltage high amperage setup except flying to the Mars :)

Say it takes 1000W of power to make your truck go a certain speed. Your could produce that power at 10V with 100A OR you could do the same thing at 20V with 50A. Voltage is doubled and current is cut in half.

Having less current draw is easier on the batteries, produces less wasted heat, among other things.

To add to what simplechamp said; going with higher voltage is better, but ONLY if a lower motor kv is used to increase the resistance. To get halved current with double the voltage, the resistance needs to be reduced by a factor of 4.

Hi,
Maybe, not sure on these newer ones. Brake option says: Brake (Default None/Soft/Hard). With the older 100amp sent/pulsar type esc'c they had option of on or off. It was horrible in my first car conversion, either full brake or none. But, in a boat with brake option on, it is awesome. Brake option off with a big outrunner on a boat, the spool down is a very nice sound.
I have not tried soft brake esc's and do wonder myself would it be like a percentage setting like drag braking?
I'll tell you this too. When we first put the oemrc pulsar 100amp opto into 1/8 car, the acceleration was just as violent as my Monster.:yes: But as you say, mechanical brakes.

Peter
