What ESC for Neu Mini E-Revo?

Currently I have a Mamba Max in my Mini E-Revo running the Neu 1112 on 4S, but it's a little powerful (can't get past 2/3 throttle no matter what I do or it just pulls the front end up), so I'm probably going to tone it down to 2S2P instead.

Anyway, I have a school project that I just ordered some Axial AX10 Solid Axles for, and I was thinking of making a rock crawler next. Or I might convert my Jato to electric.

Either way, I'm looking to get a new ESC for it. I'd like it to be smaller than the Mamba Max that's currently in there.

I'm all up for using a Mamba Micro Pro - is that going to be able to handle it? Or will I need to use a Sidewinder?

Thanks,

BP

i'd say sidewinder to be safe but others may help out better

Dont really understand what you are trying to achieve

Do you want an esc that is smaller in physical size ?

Micro pro esc has less power handling capabilities than the stock traxxas esc

Changing the esc will not change the speed of the car assuming they can handle the current demands of the motor

Mamba Max with the Neu on 2s should be fine, change the gearing for more torque and less top end if need be

Cheers

I'm pulling the Mamba Max to use in an other vehicle, and want to get an ESC to replace it.

I would prefer a smaller ESC, and since the Sidewinder is roughly the same size (actually slightly larger), I was hoping the Mamba Micro Pro would work.

I'm inclined to say that the Mamba Micro Pro would handle current better than the Traxxas one, regardless of the ratings.

Given that your Neu 1112/2d is rated at 35 amps cont / 70 amp burst, on the conservative side pretty sure they are capable of much more

You will need an esc that will support that sort of current draw

The Micro pro is just on the borderline of supporting such current, it's rated at around 35a cont (not advertised I believe)

I wasnt suggesting that you run the stock esc just making you aware that the stock esc is rated at 52a cont / 320a burst

Pretty sure the Neu motor would not work with the stock esc as the rev limiter would limit you to 25,000 rpms (2 pole vs 4 pole motors)

I would grab yaself another Mamba Max ($100 or so) or even the Pro ($125 or so)

I notice in your signature you are running Zippy's

You may want to upgrade them to get the most out of your combo

I've done a heap of lipo testing and at large current draws there are better options

I run a Mamba Max / 4600 combo in mine

How did you mount the Neu ? Did you modify the shock tower ?

What pinion / spur setup do you use on 4s ?

Cheers

I would go for a 1/10 sidewinder, mm, or mamba max pro. Or you could put the max pro in your crawler for some sensored fun. ;)

The Mamba Micro Pro is not recommended for the 1/16th Slash or E-Revo; you will generally end up with a melted pile of goo dripping out of your truck.

Like the gents mentioned above, the best options are the Sidewinder, Mamba Max and Mamba Max Pro. Unfortunately all of these speed controllers have nearly identical foot prints, so there's not much help there.

Doh! (Facepalm).

Guess I'm going to have to make an extended chassis for the little thing, cause the factory one has absolutely no room on it...

Mamba Max fits fine in stock location mounted with servo tape
