G2R Chassis for Revo

I came this close (picture me with thumb and index finger about 1mm from each other) to buying this tonight.

However, I didn't for two reasons: 1) the 1" wheelbase extension makes it longer so a stock Revo body won't fit, right? And 2) I noticed that the front diff housing plate isn't really attached to the chassis. So, I would think this is a weak spot since it relies on the diff housing as a structural member. I noticed it on this picture (upper left corner). Why didn't they make the front plate two pieces?? My main interest is bashing so I was hoping for a stronger design.

Brian the best chassis for bashing is still probably the stock.

Yeah, but that chassis is sooo pretty! :)

I guess I'll just stick with the stock setup then. I imagine that chassis is for racing with the low CG...

Yea - it sure is - Mike and I are working on one right now - it is totally off the hook..

Is that THE one Walter?

Sylvester 03.21.2006 07:54 AM

JMO, the chassis are already really strong as they come, ive crashed into s brick wall at around 30mph and nothing happened. Apart from a broke a-arm and driveshaft:p

Has anyone tried to mount the gmaxx bottom plate to a stock chassis to lower the cog down a little. It is just an idea.

So, does that mean they are suitable for bashing? I just wish they used a continuous plate in the front instead of making two pieces like that. And to get it straight; the extended wheelbase makes it so you can't use a stock Revo body right?

Lol, I don't try to bang them into concrete, it's that it sometimes just happens, you know what I mean? ;)

It's times like this that I wish I had my own milling machine so I can come up with my own designs that would merge the properties of the best designs with innovations where I feel there are the shortcomings. Making parts is a bit difficult with a vise, a hacksaw, and dremel tool to work with!

That chassis looks more like a racing design with the low CG, but the more I look at it, the more it seems I'd be tearing up the underside from the rocks and stuff that I like to go over. And it's not like I can just run down to my LHS to get a replacement part if something breaks; I'd have to order it special.

Oh well, if I decide to start racing or decide to build a pretty shelf queen, I know what to get...
