So, this has been bugging me of and on...
Who at Castle Creations is the ophidiophile? Patrick? Bernie? Joe? Perhaps its Thomas...
Edit: apologies for the typo in the title. Should be "off" and not "of" |
Anyone who owns a "Mamba" I reckon would be ?
|
Maybe it has to do with the that sexy animated chick loving mamba?
|
Well, and the sidewinder. But to be able to name ESC's after snakes, one has to have a certain level of snake-nerdiness, no?
|
Is it a fear or fascination?? Thats a good question.
|
It IS the opposite of phobia LOL
|
I don't think it has so much to do with snakes, as so much as we've had a long history of naming our products after animals; sometimes mythical, sometimes real.
With the cars it has always been some type of snake, the Mamba and the Sidewinder. We started with the aircraft line which has the Phoenix, Thunderbird, Griffin, Pixie and Pegasus. And of course our boat controllers are the Hydra and Barracuda. So I doubt anyone actually has a phobia about snakes, we just love naming our products after creatures and mythic animals :P Thomas Porfert Castle Tech Support |

The "factory" there is small enough that they could project it on the main shop wall and everyone could see/respond at the same time.

But, I think your answer was directed at the core of my observation in a roundabout way, so it's all good :yipi: I found it interesting that snakes were chosen to name the car ESC's over other species, say a rhino (MMM), cheetah (MMP), and wolverine (MM) :intello: The boat and air ESCs, i can understand completely. Discuss... :rules: |

To my knowledge, no on here owns a snake, so I doubt anyone is sporting a philia for them :) I think that if we started throwing around too many names, PETA might get on us for some crazy reason or people might think we're a nature reserve or a transporter of wild animals :P Or at the least it would get really confusing with a whole zoo of controllers.
Also I'm sure the marketing and art department wanted the snake because it's easier to draw and to work into designs. I could see them trying to come up with a cool logo with a big ol' fat rhino; could you imagine Connie the Control Freak with a rhino tattooed on her inner leg? I like the snake myself :P Thomas Porfert Castle Tech Support |
We use all kind of codenames for our proto products. From islands, planets, composers, animals, cars, designer bags, etc. Drives me freakin' nuts to keep up with all of them.
Why not start off a new line of controllers with Nuts names...Peanut for a 10A ESC, Walnut for a chubby 20A ESC |
