Disapointed

Few months ago I looked for a motor for my truggy after burning few cheap motors before. Most of the people here and on the track told me that the castle 2200kv is one of the best motor out there.
I bought it and all was great - temp and performance.

Yesterday at track the motor stoped working after no more then 3 month of usage. I ran it only on 4S geared for ~35mph.

I found that the shaft went out from rotor - see below picture.
The performance of the motor are great but as far durability I'm not sure its better then the novak or hobbywing that I had before.

Sometime I think that all the brushless electronics for 1/8 is still not mature enough, even that we spend a lot of $ for the best brands there are still too many failures.

Contact Castle. I bet they will take care of you.

+1, you definitely get what you pay for with brushless, and even then failures can be quite common.

This is like the 3th rotor failure ever on this forum from a CC/Neu? You were just very unlucky.

+1 I haven't even heard of the other two! I'm sure Castle is going to make this right.

Thanks for your comments.
I sent an email to Castle.
I hope they will send me a new rotor.

My buggy with MEDUSA motor will now have more run time on the track. Might have better luck with my buggy since its much lighter then the truggy.

Yeah...definitly a very RARE rotor separation from a CC/NEU....I've owned 3T8's and all 3 rotors separated.. And 2 were the new rotors....

So I guess this would be 4 out of 10,000+. That seems a lot better than what seems like 4 out of 10 with the T8 motors

fastbaja5b 03.13.2010 09:36 PM

Yeah gotta admit, rotor separation on the Castle Neu motors is the exception not the rule.

Bondonutz 03.13.2010 09:58 PM

Motor failure is almost unheard of, Fluke Fail.
They'll send you a rotor with no problem !

patrick will be here in ...3.......2......1.....

BashemSmashem 03.14.2010 01:07 PM

This exact same thing happend too me ! The motor was never over heated either .

I am trying too find my receipt too send it in for warrantee repair but I havent found it yet .

Thomas Porfert 03.14.2010 01:08 PM

That's only the 4th failed rotor for the Castle-Neu's that I have seen; so this was just a freak occurrence. At this time we do not have replacement rotors, so it would need to be sent in for warranty replacement. Since we don't have the rotors to replace it, we will just replace the entire motor.

For details on getting it sent in for repair, please visit our Repair Center at www.castlecreations.com/repairs. Just be sure to include a copy of your original sales receipt and include some type of delivery confirmation or tracking on the package. I apologize for the troubles, but we will get you back up and running as quickly as possible.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks Thomas, I looked on the repairs option on the web site.
Seems like the repair/replacement time + shipping transit will be 7-8 weeks (I'm living outside the state)
In addition the shipping cost is very expensive (~ $25 for each direction).
Sorry to compare it to other brand again but I had the same issue with my other Motor and I got new Rotor by mail after 2 weeks with out to many questions.
I did hope that castle have this option available.

I'm going to fix the Rotor by using high temp glue and look for new motor in addition to this one.
I will get it much faster.
