1/5 scale on Road shock setup help
Does anyone know of a 1/5 scale On Road Forum or can give me tips on proper shock setup for on road ?
It feels to stiff, handles very well though was 60 weight, just changed to 40 and maybe to soft, have not driven it . I tried Rams club, but their forum is closed to any new reg. Thanks |
Well...on my 1/8 mbx-5 on road conversion I run 90 wt oil in front and 70 in the rear w/25lb. springs and it's just about perfect

it's an on-road touring car? try largescaleforums.com. I don't post there, just know of the site.

Largescaleforums might be able to help. But you don't have an off the shelf rig, so you can't just steal someones setup, especially considering a regular 1/5 onroad weighs a bit more than you're car. But shock setup is always the same. Determine what the car is doing, under/oversteer, how much body roll, does it buck over bumps, etc. Only then can you (or anyone else) determine what to do to get it where you want. So, what is it doing and what do you want it to do instead?

I think I will just have to go to a Race, see what there car weighs, feel their susp, take a run on the track and go from there. Quote:

I just feel that the suspension could be a softer. I was at 60 front/rear and went to 40 and without driving it I know it's to soft so I'll try 50. Only way to figure out springs is to go feel some susp Thank you Quote:
Rcuniverse doesn't really get me anywhere, seems really slow. I'll try the others as well as largescaleforum. WOW What Detail even weather Specific Although I find it Odd that they dont say what the camber is Only what it is when pressed down. http://www.largescaleforums.com/showthread.php?t=7330 You guy s are Awesome, Been searching for months, (guess not hard enough)LOL Thanks guys Drive on:mdr: |
"Wow 90 weight. I thought my 60 was stiff.
I think I will just have to go to a Race, see what there car weighs, feel their susp, take a run on the track and go from there" Granted, I am running a 1/8 scale. The suspension barely flexes so it keeps the car planted pretty well. I have only run it a few times in a small area so when the weather finally breaks, will be taking it out to a much bigger p-lot for more testing |
