Up to 20A charge rate?
Hello, I just got a EOS0720iNet charger claiming charge rates up to 20 amps, and I have the Hyperion G3 batteries that can be safely charged at 5c. But the charger won't let me go past 10 amps on lipo,(2c) but it will let me go past 10 amps on nimh batteries.. Is there any way to get the charger to charge the lipos at 4c (20Amps)? That's the maximum the charger can do.
I'm using Hyperion G3 7.4v 5000mah G3 lipos, so 4c will be 20 Amps. *Nevermind it says that it limits Lipo charge rates to 2c. Why make a battery that can handle a 5c charge rate safely then? Also, I'm lookin around for some rechargeable AA batteries...any recommends there? |
firmware upgrade required?
|
set the battery capacity to double... if 5000mah batt set it as 10000mah batt
*edit* Make sure the power supply is up to it. |
OK thanks bde. The power supply is a meanwell that puts out 24v at 25A. Thats 600w.
Thanks Linc. I dunno if the firmware upgrade is required. I was wondering the same if doubling the capacity would it let me charge at 4c (20A) but I read the manual and it states that on Lipo and Lilo, it only does 2c rates for safety. Dumb huh? I'd like to have them charge in 15-20 min thatd be swell! |

Squee, I charge each pack individually, so 2s at a time. Its the Hyperion EOS0720i. Not certain what it is rated as far as wattage is concerned.

Depends?
Rechargable AA's? it depends on what you want to use them for? One of the most readily available AA batteries of course are the "Energizer" AA cells, which sell for about $7 to $15 for a four pack depending on where you purchase them. You can also get "Duracell" AA'a for about the same price, and they show just a tad more capacity for their cells. I use them both for everything in the house and they seem to hold up just fine. YOu can also get different chargers for both, from a 2 hour charger to a 15 minute charger. Then you have the newer LSD batteries which are sold at Hobbycity, which sell for about $2 a cell. These are low discharge in nature and are meant for putting into items that sit for a long time with little or no draw and can hold a charge for a longer time period. So it all depends on what you plan on doing with them. There are also cheaper brands out there, but these seem to be about the best on the market at the moment.

thanks Jerry I bought Pure Energy rechargeable set at the store yesterday.

It is down to the firmware - the older 720i chargers had 2C max built in, but the later firmware allows 5C.
