putting 8xl and 12020 together

This is the first BL system I have put together and have a couple questions. Basic stock E-MAxx (MPI CVD, steel idler, strobe slipper) stock radio on 12-14 cells.

Question #1: I see a couple options for placing the controller, one is mounting above the area of the stock ESC. The second is making an L brace and place it where the 2nd Titan was then mounting on this. The first set up has the controller away from the receiver and two servos (both stock), but it will have longer wires. Mounted with the L mount it will have shorter wires, but will be over the electronics. Which would be the best se t up? Are there other setups you would recomend? Will putting on a L brace throw the weight off balance? WIll the other electronic cause too much interference with the controller?

Question #2 is wiring. The 12020 has two thick battery wires to be tined to a small Deans connector, what are your recommendations doing this for a novice?

Question #3 - the three sets of motor wires from the controlled, what order do they need to be wired to the motor?

Thanks for everything!

well first of, the L bracket is the best solution in my honest opinion. thats what i use except out of carbon fiber.

second, it shouldnt be to difficult. just twist em, tin em (the plug AND wire), let the iron get REALLY hot and just have at it. dont forget the shrink tubing first though.

third, it doesnt matter. just make sure that the 2 wires per phase are together and not mixed up (should be pretty obvious). i wire mine to look pretty and so there all alligned and stuff. most people dont and just switch em around (any 2) if the truck goes in reverse, however its somewhat difficult if you direct solder and it makes it look like $*^&. the other way to do that is to pull the red jumper off after its programmed and the batteries are on, then you will here a single beep and that lets you know its reversed. just put the jumper back on and your set. if your confused about anything just read the sticky on how to program a bk controller.

Thanks Squee! I was planning on twisting and soldering.

Did you make the carbon fiber L bracket? If not, where did you find it?

Do you have an on/off switch? I was planning batteries connected = on and disconnected = off.

yea, i made it from some carbon fiber i found in a shoe insert of all things.

no, a on/off switch wont turn the batteries off. only the bec i believe. just disconnect one of the batteries and youll be fine.
