GT A-6 charger not working!
 

Well i was balacing my 5000mah 5s flightpower lipo at 9.8A for the first time(i normally just do 5A,but have found the pack can withstand 5C),and i came back about 35minutes later a the pack should have been charged,though my GT A-6 charger from hobbyking was turned off.I have tried switching it back on to no avail.Is this a common problem,do i need to reset somehting,or is it a fault and i need to return to hobbyking?
I am also using a suitable power suppy,(hobbyking A20)and even though that seems to get very got(about 250F for the outer metal casing) it worked fine until now for about 6 or so charges. I doubt it is the power supply as when i turn the powersupply on the screws on the charger sti l"zap" me when i touch them indicating their is electricity running through.

i bet it was the power supply, 250 is rediculous, try hooking it up to the battery of your car to see if it is still working or not

it's your power supply. i have the same charger and the same thing happened to me when my old POS power supply died.

Ok what powesupply do you guys reccomend now?
Also scartletboa was yours gettng really hot?

If you want to charge your packs at 2C I would get at least a 300W capable power supply. Your current power supply is good for about 180W (assuming 80% efficiency) and you were trying to draw over 200W from it, that's why it got so hot and failed. Also, you are pushing your charger to the limits, as it is rated for 200W max. Always try to have some headroom, running stuff at the edge of it's rating will result in more heat and more failures.

these chargers can handle the 200w limit just fine and even if they do get too hot, they will shut off automatically.

i got one of those cheap computer power supplies for $20 shipped off e-bay and it keeps up with the charger perfectly. it only gets warm to the touch when i am running the charger at the full 200w. the charger heats up to about 120F at most when charging at the full 200w.

that is the power supply i have and what i did was connect the green wire from the big plug to one of the black wires and wired all of the remaining black wires and all of the yellow wires to bullet plugs and soldered some bullet plugs onto the esc as well and it works perfectly.
