X2 CRT Conversion

It's official, im going electric. Bought a Jammin X2Crt off a sponsored guy for only $150 a couple days ago and will be going electric. I also picked up some wheels/tires/wing brand new for $30. So I'm going to do this conversion right and it will be a setup for 5s lipo. Im going the techno route. Losi 1/8 esc. 2200kv motor (anyone selling one:whistle:) and Turningy 5s 5000mah lipos, probably 3 or 4 of them. Im going to get a hitech servo and a proline bull dog body to top it off!! This will be for bashing. I should have pics soon! This will be a non-rushed build! Im a new recruite so any info will be greatly apreciated! Thanks Derek!

Why the Losi ESC? IMO, the MMM and Tekin RX8 are considerably better ESC's.

+1 for that. My co-worker has had nothing but issues w/his Losi esc. in his truggy

I would also suggest using the RCM motor mount over the Tekno, even if you do buy the Tekno chassis kit. You won't have to use those long pinions (easier on motor bearings) and you don't have make a choice between using the 36mm or 42mm size motors.

Well the deal on the losi esc fell through so Ill stay away from it. So buy an rcm mount? Instead of techno...one or the other lol?

simplechamp 04.04.2010 03:27 AM

You can get the Tekno conversion kit and use the chassis, battery tray, and other bits, but instead of using the Tekno motor mount you can use the RCM mount (for the reasons mentioned above).

Yeah, I would definitely look into the RC-M mount. It put the motor on the center diff's rear bulkhead. This way you can use regular pinions.

The Tekno conversion's are nice! I had one on my 8ight-B. However, I didn't like the motor mount setup.

I'm looking into a X2 CRT as well at the moment. I'm thinking of getting a battery tray and mount from RC-M.

what do you guys think of a 2250kv xerun 80a combo on 4s? Would that be crazy for bashing?

magman 04.04.2010 04:00 PM

I personally would go w/the mmm ccneu 2200kv combo on 4s or 5s or a Tekin RX8 w/a 2000kv truggy motor

Don't skimp on your electronics...you WILL pay a lot more i the end if you do. No to say the one you mentioned isn't up to the task but, what if you do have an issue. What co. provides better customer support...castle hands down

simplechamp 04.04.2010 04:35 PM

And if you insist on going with Xerun/Hobbywing get the 150A, but still agree go with a Castle or Tekin. Look of Ebay and RC classified sites, Monster combos can be had for pretty cheap these days. Might even find from members here.

i have an rc-m motor mount on my crt x2 and it is working just fine.

in mine, i am using a MMM esc and a castle 2200kv motor. the fan on the esc is broken and it has only thermaled once. the motor runs consistently between 120-140F, even in tall grass with badlands. i am running 4s lipos geared for 40mph. with my 5000mah 20c turnigy lipo, i am getting 20 minutes bashing and the battery rarely breaks 100F. i have about 10 hours of runtime on this setup and 4s on the 2200kv motor seems to be the standard for truggies here where i live.

I found a great deal on a 2650kv motor so i'll be using that. and a mamba max pro esc!

In the truggy? Hmm, not really suggested. The 2650 is made for lighter buggies and such. In a truggy it will draw more amps to get it moving properly. Maybe more than the Mamba Max Pro can handle....

this motor will work right? 2200kv 5mm shaft?

nitrostarter 04.06.2010 01:32 PM

No! not in a truggy. We are telling you what to use and what will work. Why not listen?
