5 cell battery/1 cell peaking before others. HELP
I'm using a Hyperion 720i net 3 charging a truerc 8000mah pack. when i connect everything it shows 1 cell at 4.20 and the rest at 3.91-3.92. Even when i leave the balancer on for a long time(over night) it does not change the voltage much at all..I am wondering if i would have better luck using a seperate balancer and charging it that way.
Any help or suggestions would be great! Thanks |
First of all, the balancer in the 720 balances at a MAX of 300mA. So, let's say you need to "bleed off" 2000mAh, it will take at least 6.5 hours, and that's assuming the max rate of 300mA.
A stand-alone balancer won't speed things up that much because the fastest I've seen (Thunderpower TP-210) works at 450mAh IIRC. Your best bet is to use what you have and just let it take as long as it takes. Second, I would be curious as to why it got so far out of balance? Did you balance the pack before, or is this the first time? If you've been balancing all along, you may have an issue. BTW: Welcome to the forums! |
Charge the other cells separately thru the balancer port until they are all filled. Then run the pack and see how far out of balance it goes during a run, pull 2000mah out of it, not a full run but enough to see what is up.
2 amp max thru the balancer wires, about all they can handle given the gauge. It once took 36hrs or so for me to balance a maxamps 10000mah pack... This is why I like the little 25 dollar HC charger that charges all of the cells individually. Great for older packs that go out of balance but still have some life in them. |
Well I bought the pack used and this is how it was when i got it..I will just put it on the balancer and hope that it takes care of it. I will check back in after I let it go for a while hopefully it wont take 36 hrs for this..
Thanks for the quick reply! |
What is the total pack voltage? Sometimes the balance plugs get dirts and throughs things off
|
it shows the total pack voltage at 19.653
