R/c hardware.
 

I just wanted to take a minute to share my experiences with R/C hardware over the last few years. When I started out with R/C around Feb/2006 I picked up some MegaTech screws cheaply on T/H and thought they were just a little bit better then the stock phillips head screws you get with alot of stock R/C vehicles. Then I tried Tonyscrews, HexHead screws, and even titanium screws. All of them have their own pros and cons, but I always lean towards the strongest hardware at the best prices available.

Last year Lito aka "Geroge16" shared his stash supplier "BoltDepot.com" and I have to say for the money they are the best supplier of small high grade good quality hardware that I have found. Every screw is clean, accurate, and bur free. I was just about to order another lot from them and thought I would share how great these screws are. You can buy everything in 100 piece lots for a great price, and I always go for the Grade 12.9 screws, because they are the toughtest available. I think I now have about $300 to $400 worth of these screws and I love the idea of having whatever I need at my fingertips whenever I need it. I found some very cool compartimental type cases for flat head, and one for socket head, so it is easy to keep everything neet & organized. And best of all my kids are learning how to do things the right way using the best hardware.

Anyway thanks Lito for turning us on to one of the best hardware suppliers in the business. Just in case anyone is searching for a good bearing supplier I also get stainless steel shielded bearings from VXB bearings for very reasonable prices. Ok linc, I'm tired of hearing about all of your guilty pleasures whenever you become a little jealous. If I want to tell everyone that I got to wade through isles filled to the ceiling with nuts, bolts, and any type of screw you could ask for then I'm going to tell them whether a certain witty forum member (with no verbal filter) likes it or not! :tongue:

As far as being faster than BL, well, I would have to ask you lady friends if that is true or not... Or your guy friends, don't want to impose my heterosexual values on you.3

And I seriously doubt that you are that good at soldering. Any one of my starving 17 children could most likely eclipse your soldering skills.

But I will agree that giant MG's hidden under trenchcoats are gangsta.

I have had good dealing with these guys, too: Northeast Fasteners Though they carry mostly larger-sized hardware.

Checked out that site, but could not even find anything 3mm. Bolt Depot is much better and easier to use. Evertyhing on my R/C vehicles are 3mm & 4mm respectively. Bolt Depot has everything we need in those sizes and they carry grade 12.9 steel. No comparison.

Not to worry I am sure that James has seen LARGER HARDWARE somewhere along the line.

Those pics you sent me of your "naturalist vacation" were eye opening, mainly cause I had to look real close for your hardware... I guess it was cold Jerry?

I have 8 kids and a trail of some very happy women that would not complain one bit. Even my angry EX's speak very highly of me in that respect. So rant on James. Your taunts mean VERY LITTLE in that area. The words I hear most are AMAZING and OH MY GOD over and over again. Life is good.

Not bad, but I still like McMaster Carr better. They have a larger selection of styles and similar prices (bit higher tho, and only boxes.) I see BD has 12.9 too, but thats only in the socket head screws. IDK what grade button and flathead screws are. I know MMC has 10.9 and 8.8 in those styles.

Plus they have good hex tools and other stuff. I usually get velcro and batt straps from them, as well as special drill bits, taps, and even drill blanks you can use to replace worn drive pins in dogbones.

Looks like Linc needs the Sex bolt section. Harold's been gone too long and someone's getting a bit testy... lol

Flatheads and buttonheads come in grade 12.9 too while set screws are grade 14.9.

BoltDepot carries 12.9 in everythign we use. I do like the fact that you can get so many other items at McMasterCarr. That is a great site as well. I just like the ease of popping into BD selecting the screws that I need and completing the transaction quickly. MC is a little bit more difficult to navigate through for my taste.

MCC has nearly everything. Everything. If you ever need to order a commercial toilet, a pallet jack, full face respirator and a sandblaster to go with your screws, you've found the right place. :)

They have improved their site over the years by quite a bit. A lot easier to get around than it used to be, but still tons of stuff to wade thru if you are just browsing.
