rc8 shocks q's
at the shock ends threaded into the plastic doesnt want to bite in it kind of pops in thats it, i dont have a manuel i ;ve rebuilt plenty of shocks is there a trick to this one
|
english please.
worn shock end. get a new one. |
i said rebuilt- new ends and shaft so were clear
|
Do you mean when you are trying to put the new shock ends on you can't get the shaft started into the plastic? Whenever I'm having a trouble getting a screw threaded into a new plastic part I take my body-post hole reamer and shave out just a tiny bit of the outside of the hole, and then the screws will thread right in no problem
|
problem solved now another question, is there a standard shock and then the 16mm bigbore if so how can i tell which i have, i'm rebuilding all my shocks and seen two different rebuild kits
|
I would use a caliper and measure the width of the shocks, if they are 16mm you have the big bores. If they are less, you have the old type.

The size usually refers to the piston bore, so measure that. The actual outside diameter of the shock body on the big bores will be larger than 16mm, probably closer to 19-20mm.

yeah i just went for it and got the non big bore shocks and it was correct, the first post i had what happened was i got rc8b shock ends
