iPod touch, app for speed measurement?
is there an app for getting the speed of my flux? im goin down to the end of springfield road to go bashing by the gravel pits, and it has a big long road, and I wanted to know, if I jam my ipod into the reciever box, will it recodr speed? and can speed be in any way, related to G-forces, cause there is a dynamometer app. just dont know if it's the right one. anyone ever done this before?, I have the 64GB iPod touch 3rd Gen.

I tried it and it's not very accurate,it really only goes off the accelerometers in the iPod to "guesstemate" the speed of the car.I compared it to a radar gun and while the accel curve feature was cool, speed was off by a good 5-8mph.if you can, find a telemetry app, that would be cool!--Josh

You can use a handheld GPS in the vehicle, or go low-tech and use a stopwatch to measure time over a predetermined distance and calculate speed from there.

i have a gps speed app on my g1 (androids first phone) it works great. tested in my car with the cruise set, with in 1-2 depending on my signal strength

ok, so i guess there isnt an app for that, Apple, you have failed me :( oh well. i think ill do the timing from point A to B

I use the "Speedbox" app... Was very accurate in my real car, however you need to span a fairly large piece of real estate for it to show an accurate measure with R/C's.
Try it out! |
k, i tried it, and my truck hit a total of 89.6 kmph

Wow, I just looked at google earth and didnt realize that the distance between lagimodere and kildonan park is only 1/3 the distance of the road. I might have go there sometime and see how fast I can go.
