Onboard Voltage meter/batt life display
 
I'm looking for a small device to wire into a system that will show remaining battery life. Its for a non RC application, but we will likely be using cheap rechargable Nimh batteries - something we can readily purchase that is enclosed in a case. Low voltage, but around 5K mah.
This meter (and the battery) are going to have to be able to handle the abuse of an industrial environment, and be plug and play (no diagnostics - if it dont work, we'll just replace it).

I use one of these for r/c, but could be wired to anything. It cycles threw, total voltage, and then and any of the individual cell's voltages it detects. +/-.03v

Hobbycity have numerous items like that- one of the models with an lcd display for each/ every cell in realtime might be abit better and more accurate- some even have a timer so you can estimate runtime..

The trouble with some of those meters HC sells is that they are meant to measure each cell individually through the balance taps. You probably want something more like a panel meter:
