New Slash 4x4 PE build w/ pics. Questions.

Just got a new Slash 4x4 PE and getting it all decked out. Picked up a Neu 1512 1y, MMP, and TP 3s 45c packs, not to mention all kinds of other goodies. I will be sure to post lots of pics.

I saw some great looking mods and builds in the main Slash 4x4 thread and have a couple of questions: i want to upgrade my shocks and have been looking at the ProLine Powerstroke shocks. can anyone tell me how they are? how do they compare to the Traxxas shocks that come on the PE? or, even better, i saw how guys are using losi 8ight shocks. that looks awesome. where can i get these aluminum plate adaptors shown in pic? someone said TGN but i looked everywhere on their site and could not find them. can anyone help?

I have 2 PE Slashes and absolutely enjoy the hell out of them ! I have yet to bash mine ben running them on the track w/1509 1820KV and 3s.

I have the stock PE shocks on one and have zero complaints, no leaks and their smooth and work very well. On my other I have the brackets and losi 8 shocks as you mentioned.

You can get the plates here from a fellow member;

so which shocks do you like better?

and how does the 1509 do? i was gonna get the 1509 but decided to go a bit over and get the 1512. i am sure that 1509 is plenty though, huh?

thanks for the link, btw!

The 1590 2Y 1820kv is geared 54/18 and is a ice cold running ROCKET !

If the track or if you bash and the surface is really rough and choppy/large jumps the Losi shocks really shine. If it's a pretty smooth track or you bash on concrete you'll find it hard to notice a difference.

those look great Bondonutz. thanks for feedback. i just wanted to know what type of difference there is before i drop $100. thats why i held off on the powerstroke shocks too. pricey for little shocks. i will be doing a little bashing and mostly racing.

i am surprised at the speed you get with 1820kv. thats barely 20k rpm. i should have gone down in kv. i figured the 2700kv puts me in the low 30k rpm range and i would be good so that is what i went with. i am sure it will be fast as hell.

Yeah, kinda threw me for a loop myself. I bought one of those motors from NEU's web special 4-5 months ago for 110.00 and decided to try it in a 4wd Slash and wadda ya know ? Despite Brians calc the RPMs have to be higher for it to run so cool ? IDK everything about all the the little details but it works especially well for the application. Enough so, that I bought another motor last week for the other Slash to replace a 1512 I had in it. After 5 hrs hours or so of brutal driving in todays heat of 91 today in Fl, the motor was barely 100degrees, ESC fan NOT on (M.M.M.) and the Lipo was 98dgerees (MA & Zippy 30C 3s 5Kmah) I ran 4 packs through one truck and 3 in the other to LVC and temps were the same across the board. Couldn't ask for more ? :yes:
I'm gonna put that 1512 1700kv in my Ebuggy and try it on 5s now !?

Aren't you a carbon-fiber fabrication master, LOL! Figured you would make up some plates yourself to use the 1/8 buggy shocks?

this is an old thread. and yes, i am, and i did. but i sold the slash. i now have complete carbon scrt10. here are some pics. i am in process of making kits of this right now if anyone is interested. kits will include alum. motor mount, carbon chassis, carbon towers, delrin lipo tray, delrin mudguards, delrin rx box. the delrin parts and alum. motor mount are not shown in these pics. check rctech.net forums for more info in near future.
