mamba esc ?'s
 

why would you buy a mamba monster max esc now that the mamba max pro came out ? isnt the mamba pro capable of everything the max is ? and more ? plus a smaller foot-print ! just wanted to know what every1 else thinks on this ? i have 1 of each but iam in need of a new esc for another 1/8th scale conversion , and iam leaning towards the mmpro because of the smaller foot-print mainly . if some of you more knowledgeable people no more please 411 me, enlighten me please .:neutral:

Will the Max and Max Pro really stand up to the abuse of 1/8 scale? I don't think I would trust a 1/10 ESC in a 1/8 application, especially if it is a truck/truggy. I would have to stick with the MMM, RX8, SPX8, Vortex8, and 80A+ HobbyWing/eZRun/XERUN/Turnigy ESCs.

The Max Pro is just a 1/10 ESC, not 1/8.

That's just my $0.02...

The common features would be 6s capable, thats it.

The MMPro does sensored motors and is only rated at 100 amps. It's a 1/10th scale esc. However, it can be used in a 1/8th setup when set up properly.

The MMM is rated at 120amps and made for the larger vehicles. It doesn't have sensored modes.

Yea, the amperage alone means nothing...an 80A ESC made for 1/8 vehicles will work better and last longer than a 100A ESC made for 1/10 vehicles.

The MAX Pro is rated for about 80 amps, the Monster Max is rated for 120. The Max pro is rated up to an 1/8 scale buggy, but not a monster truck. Then Monster Max is rated for monster trucks. The Monster is a more powerful unit.

I'm running a MMP with a Tekin T8 in my buggy without any problems.

Running 5S so the buggy is a little over 8lbs....

my MMP works in my XT8 with a Lehner 1940 without problems

As said the monster is spec-ed to run truggies and monster trucks, plus larger motors like the 1520 and 1717 caslte motors. I can imagine the fets on the monster are larger and more capable of handling large amp draw than the pro.

The pro is nice in that it gives the option of sensored usage and will also do 6s lipo. I know alot of 10th scale setups that would be great with 6s and lower kv motors.

I feel it is like the max vs the monster. You could use a max to run a buggy or an emaxx, and many got them to do 5s, but when you really wanted to run a big motor the max did not have much reserve.

Actually, the pro uses a better FET (4933) than the MMM (4108 IIRC), just less of them.
