new 8ight bulldog lid for my buggy and an esc mod.

I'm a BIG jumper, and broke my last monster mamba from the shock of it being on my esc tray on my 8ight.

after asking what i could do to keep it from happening, a couple of people suggested using weather stripping under the esc to cushion the shock to the esc.

i did that and a couple of other things. i got a revo esc mount and used that with weather stripping and some foam from my monster mamba box and used a rpm esc mount and secured that to my esc/battery tray using silicon tape.

the one thing i had to do was get 3x 60mm bolts to hold down the mount because of all the extra space the foam and weather stripping uses.

it worked AWSOME. i've already done some really high jumps and it protects it great. so thanks to the guys who suggested it.

also, i just saw proline's new Bulldog body, and had to have it.

i painted it black, and cut out an esc hole so the esc wouldn't be squished under the lid and negate all the work i did to give it some shock absorbtion.

i really like the final result....here's some pics:

I love the Pro-Line Bulldog bodies (and JConcepts Punisher bodies), but only on trucks. I mean absolutely no offense toward you or your buggy, but to me, that is the ugliest body I have ever seen on a buggy! I just don't understand putting a "truck-like" body on a buggy, but that's just me.

Now, please understand, I mean absolutely no disrespect, and I am not talking specifically about your buggy...I am talking about Pro-Line creating the body, the body itself, and how they look installed on buggies.

 no offense taken. i kinda thought it was so ugly, it was kinda cool lookin'. it's all good.

Kind of like certain dogs...they are so ugly they are cute, heh!

I'd have to agree with Chad here. I love the bulldog body on truggies, but not so much on buggies. A local racer just painted one up for his Mugen buggy and I'm definitely not a fan...

Glad to hear success on the ESC mount! Hope it fairs out fine!

Are those the Pre-Mounted Mohawk BD wheels & tires by suprasales on eBay?

bruce750i 06.02.2010 10:24 AM

How do you like that VXL for 1/8 scale?

Looks kind of Nitro-ish with the MMM hole on top.

I like it.

Mohawks sound cool on pavement, like the sound FX in old "CHIPS" reruns.

Chad,

yeah, those are mohawks from suprasales. i've used almost all of their tires. the mohawks are great for bashing, but not for racing. they do last a long time though.

i just got some of their parada tires and i'm anxious to try them. alot of people say they hook up pretty well.

yeah, i like the sound of mohawks too. they sound like real tires when you brake. they have that scream sound to them.

as far as the vxl, i've tried probably 12-15 monster mambas and 3 tekins. none of them have taken the abuse the vxl-3s has.

i run it with the feigao 7L and it's actually faster than my buddies rc8 with a 2650 and a tekin rx8 in it on 4S. i can even gear it so it runs rather cool. i'm not sure i'd race with it, but i'm definately sticking with the vxl-3S for bashing from now on.

i will be taking it to the track probably next week and try to film an entire pack with temp readings just to see if i could race with it if i wanted to.

i'll always like castle and tekin for racing and high speed, but nothing has taken the beating i've put on that vxl-3S. since i got the one vxl-3S, i've bought 4 more. really. i can take pics if you wanna see them.:gasp::whistle:

bruce750i 06.03.2010 01:29 PM

I got nothing against the vxl-3s. I thought you were using the vxl fan on a different esc in one of your pictures. I've got two of them. One Non-waterproof and one waterproof. I like the K.I.S.S. aspect of these systems.
