xcelorin systems any good?
Anybody have any experience with the xcelorin 1/8 scale brushless systems? Just wondering if they're worth it or should I just stick with the MMM system. My next project is a LST2 conversion & trying to see the pros & cons of both systems.:mdr:
|
From what I gather, the esc is crap, but the motor is quite good. On balance, I'd say stick with the MMM :smile:

Losi ESC's are Junk, The motors are better but still have doubt.
Go with Castle or Tekin Systems, they can both be found here in the RCM store. |
Losi...NO
Castle or Tekin...YES enough said |

both castle and tekin also have awesome customer service just in case something goes wrong. |
ESCs are a piece of crap. I have the losi xcelorin 2100kv motor and mamba monster esc on my 8ight conversion. It runs extremely smooth, cool and quiet.

+1 more for NO!!!!!
get a castle combo |
I use to run the Losi ESC. Worked great untill I updated the firmware and the majic smoke came out.
For ESC's stick w/Tekin/Castle. |
In Europe the losi motor has the reputation to toast :lol:
The ESC last meanly ~ 10 runs ^^^ The customer service often result in a "Your fault, you inverted polarities" :lol: :lol: Just go for a Castle ;) |
Thanks for all your replies, so that settles it then stay away from Xcelorin. Now to decide, MMM or Tekin RX8....decisions, decisions.:mdr:

Bashing=MMM
racing=tekin atleast that's the way I usually see it done--Josh |
Okay I'm going with MMM but I do want to use the new 1518 1Y motor, I think it would be better for the LST 2 than the 2200kv one, any thoughts?:mdr:
|
The 2200 is a fine motor for the truck on 4s, I ran mine on 4s for well over a year and no heat problems and it would yank the front wheels off the ground in a heartbeat.
If you want to run 5s or 6s then the 1518 or 1520 would be the wiser choices. |
We have a lot of electric 1/8th scale running around in my area. Given that I own two Mamba Monster 2200kv combos and three Tekin combos w/four motors: 1350kv, 1700kv, 2050kv, 2250kv, I have come to the following conclusion:
Mamba Monster = Monster Trucks Tekin = Buggy and Truggy Everyone will have their own opinion on this, but from my own experience, go with Tekin when you need solid control. The CC Monster is too abrupt and is more for a wow factor or where tiny input is not noticed, hence, monster trucks. I had the Monster combo in by converted XT8 and it was horrible. My previous experience with it was on my ERevo which was a blast. I had to dial it WAYYY down on the XT8 and even then, it sounded like it was destroying the drive train. I switched to the Tekin 2250kv Truggy combo and BAM, it was beautiful. Everything was so much smoother just at default settings and my drive train was safe again. Some quick tips: When using Tekin, go with the correct format: buggy motor for buggy and truggy for truggy. I used a truggy on a buggy and it wasn't as smooth as the buggy motor. When using Castle, do not buy the 2650kv ever unless you are running 3S on a buggy. Sensored matters!! Make sure you get a sensored setup unless its a bashing monster truck. Just my take... |
