Going to the sand, 1520 motor question.
 

I'm going to be running in the sand pretty soon and I've had problems with sand getting into motors in the past and everything else for that matter. These Castle Neu motors look pretty well sealed, do they need any additional sealing? I've sealed the extra two mounting screw holes. How about around the wire holes or the black plastic around the wires? Otherwise these motor look good to go.

As far as the MMM goes. In the past, I tried to cover it with screen. It ended up retaining heat, so I opened it up and it did fine. The fan may have had a shorter life, but I think it is worth it.

I've seen alot of people seal motors with liquid electrical tape and aluminum tape.as for the esc,try a cut up pantyhose--Josh
