eagletree
is it worth it? are they any better alternatives to eagletree out there?
tower's price for the 150a model is $83.99. is there anywhere else that sells it cheaper? anyone have a used one they could part with? i want to use it to see just how good all my turnigy lipos are. just because they run cool and have good punch doesn't mean don't have bad voltage sag. i also want to see just how crappy my smc 9000mah "28c+" packs are. they have no power and they get hot and puff when i run them. oh, almost forgot my neu 30c packs. http://pics.towerhobbies.com/image/e/etrp8011.jpg |
Thats a great price for the 150amp model- I remember when the 100? amp model was $99. If you test alot of batts or do serious racing and need to know if you're packs will last the duration, then its definately a worth while investment for finding C ratings ( if you settle on an agreed voltage under load, 3.2v per cell for arguements sake ) or working out average current draw.
The only similar things I've seen are all bench-test wattage meters basically, good for testin a motor & prop for example, but not much use for testing a ground based r/c since theres no load on the system as such. Thats my 2cents anyway... |
I have a medusa 200a model but you probably can't get hold of them anymore, and if you could there would be no waranty.

If you do get the 150A model, be aware that it won't accurately measure spikes much above 150A. The HE senser becomes extremely nonlinear above its rating, so even though it still graphs higher currents, they are more than likely well above 150A.

I mainly bash, but i would like to see how different gearing and Different motors affect the amp draw rates. I also want to test my 30c turnigy batteries against my neu 30c batteries. |

This is a thread I started a while back concerning the inaccuracy: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22653 I'm not saying an ET is a bad idea. Far from it actually. Just be aware of the potential for inaccuracy above its rating. Also, if you do get one, don't forget to calibrate it: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21964 |
I have a 150A version and have recorded spikes over 150 in my truggy geared under 40MPH on 5s with a 1515 2.5D
