Need Some Fundraising Suggestions.
We need to raise upwards of 3 thousand dollars ($3,000+) ASAP for Water Polo and Swim Team... (I'm betting some people are gonna have a field day with this one, YES, we wear speedos for Waterpolo. Just get off our asses; we're NOT gay.)
Basically, California and the school system are getting bent over and.. well.. let's say nothing pretty is happening. MAJOR budget cuts, hell, we had a paper drive for our school because we couldn't afford printer paper, so we used yellow, and other colored paper for a good month or so.. They wanted to cancel Polo and Swim, but our coach said nuh-uh, and isn't letting his "baby" go... Anywho, he has since canceled the JV team, and is cutting the Varsity team down to 20 members (I'm one of the 20 members, but I really want a JV team, since we have a ton of graduating seniors this year, and will need some good talent to join Varsity). Basically, we need money for more equipment (yes, we play with balls....), pool rental time, game day pool rental times, buses, and others since the we don't have a pool at school.. I'm not sure if my coach is even going to try bringing JV back for the new kids, but I wanna try pushing him to do so, if we take down JV, we'll be wasting more time in my junior year (I'm a freshman now, so in the year after this coming..), getting newer kids to learn the game, and putting crappy players into Varsity. Eventually, we're gonna need more Varsity players.... To raise this upwards of 3,000... we need to fund raise! And since our principal just shoved this down our throats the last week of school (well technically 2 more, but who the hell goes to school after finals?).. which means no high school publicity in the morning = less outcomes.... This is what I've thought so far: Sell candy (Since candy is a major hit at our school, hey, what can we say, we're Americans!) Sell pizza, soda, etc at lunch and afterschool (Lots of clubs are doing this, so we can advertise and sell in more convenient spots.. most clubs do it out of classrooms, we may be able to do it outside on the quad?) Dinner nights (Restaurant allowing, we can get people to eat at let's say... Stonefire, and we can get around 10% or 20%, per peoples order if they show them the flyer.. Again, if no school = we can't pass out flyers) Bowling nights (Our baseball team raised a little over a grand and a half doing this, so why not?) Car wash (But I believe SoCal is in a drought so....) More suggestions would be appreciated, remember, we can't strip (linc and paralyzed..), or do anything stupid. I'm in high school! We also have to do whatever we're gonna do, fast, since we only have a good week or so of school left, especially with finals this Friday, Monday, and Tuesday). I know this is uber late, but who knows, someone might have a smart idea! |
you could stri..... oh, nevermind:whistle:

you beat me to it. How about having everyone involved w/sports gather up items to donate and have your own little flea-bay.:whip: |
You guys should do speedo car washes. (sorry I couldn't resist)

How about a relay type thing where you get people to pledge a certain amount for each lap the pledged member swims. I know we used to do things like this for my football, weightlifting and track teams in high school. It made for a great training session as well as a low cost fundraiser.

Swimsuit Calendar?

I can't imagine treading water for an entire match. You must have the cardio of a race horse. Good luck with the fundraising:yes:

But yes, treading water, not to mention the fat guys always pushing on you when you have the ball... Quote:

Get as many TV stations, talk show hosts, The Governing body for water polo and any other sport associations involved. Maybe the Olympic committee can do something since water polo and swimming are 2 great Olympic events. Just remember to hold a RC-Monster sign when you get on TV.

My wife's friend does a pancake breakfast with her daughter for their soccer team a couple times a year. The last one was held at an Apple-bee's and I think they raised 3200 bucks for the final total (net). Plus considering where I live and the schools are smaller, might work well for you.
There are several benefits to this. 1. Local restaurant gets a little extra business as there was a small rental fee. As well as good publicity for being a good "corporate" steward. 2. The soccer team was the servers, so mainly the people that attended were school buddies and parents. 3. One day thing, over by lunch time on a Saturday. 4. Only advertising was at the school and social networking sites. 5. Food is low cost! I read a lot about what is going on out is California and even though I am an EVIL conservative I am sorry. Cutting things out for the kids really sucks given all the other horse $hit that the government pays for. Not to mention I don't know how many kids I have personally known that have had sports and extra school programs really save them from them selves and trouble they would surely have gotten into. Best wishes, let us know if you can get it done! |
Hmm, we need a lot more now, than 3k.
We need money to start paying the refs, since the district said no moar. |
Know anyone that works at a bar?
Our local Sunday league has an in with the bar owner, because we always go there. We held a foosball tournament. Paid 25 for the trophy. 10% of all drinks he gave to us for the business we brought in. All proceeds of the 20 buy in went to us. We did this two days in a row and made close to a grand at the end of it all. Lots of fun too. |
