Is this any gd? MGM Brushless Car/Boat ESC 120A 10 cell lipo

I am wanting to do a 9s setup on my neu 1520 for the occasional speed run and maybe run 7s and my everyday setup.

I am currently using 6s with the MMM...

Now i was waiting patiently for the new castle hv ice 160 car version.. but it doesnt look like it will be release any time this year as there are no updates...

I have the opportunity to get one of these MGM ESCs specifically the
mgm 12032-3s

here are some pics of it

Do you think the condition look so ok?
I can get it for $120
Is it worth it?
When running 9s would i have any problems with the 120a current?

Should i wait for castle???

I'd wait.

Do quick search for MGM escs around here and you'll observe a couple things:

1) They are a pain in the arse to programme, even with all the correct bits/ cables needed.
2) See above.
3) Often prone to overheating, even with the high spec 200amp versions.

They are good escs, but Im not overly enthused about them these days, especially given the normal prices and slow customer support.

I have owned both and agree with neil. Wait for CC to get the new one out.

The startup and braking on the MGM's with 4 pole motors has gotten better but still leaves much to be desired and is not smooth by any means. They are also a pain to get service done on which usually takes about 2-3 months if you are in the US, Europe would most likely be faster.

They are also annoying to program as the ESC still has to be powered via a battery while connected to the computer. The programming isn't all that great either as they leave you very few variables to change.

3 years ago I would have said go for it, however today I suggest waiting.

No too mention the 120a version may be a little close for comfort as MGM rates theirs right on the edge. I used the 160a version and mine still ran hot with a neu 1515 (1700kv).
