Another G4 project

Just want to share a few pics of my newest project. After I sold my prevoius G-maxx, I have really wanted a new. So this is my newest project and I am really looking forward to upgrade this baby.

Looks nice and clean, the G4 chassis and 3905 spec transmission is a nicer base to upgrade from compared to the older G3 chassis and 3906 tranny.

+1  I've ripped up a number of the 3906 transmissions. They are somewhat limited on how much power they can handle.

That is one Gorgeous Truck! I love it!

I've been wanting to build me a G4. Just haven't found a deal on a chassis yet.

I do have some FLM Combo Bulks and some RPM A Arms that are saved for the time when a G4 Chassis comes along.

Well I use to put some beatings on my G2 with Gorilla single speed transmission and RC-monster idler. Held up pretty good.

The truck is know upgraded with the following items:

Proline Bigjoes on Axial oversize wheels
GARC diffcases, bulkheads and braces
Lunsford hingepins
Tekin RX8 / 2000 kv. combo

More will come soon. Currently I have Traxxas center cvd in backorder, and then I am thinking FLM arms and some decent cvd's for front and rear. Suggestions are welcome, as it seems the only ones available is Traxxas.

Lookin' good dude.

There is a definate lack of center cvds for the newer emaxx, though there is atleast one option:

RC-Best has a pretty good reputation, but to be honest the stock plastic driveshafts are pretty beefy, not like the old emaxx which had match-sticks for driveshafts...

Traxxas Cvds are good for Diff to Wheels. And for suggestions I would add some better shocks. Ofna Ultra Rear Shocks with Ue Springs.

Klausen 09.05.2010 01:53 AM

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think I will wait with the cvd's till the plastic brakes, and focus on the shocks first.

The Ofna ultras are discontinued the places I have searched. asked Mike if he is able to get some Supermaxx shocks, and if not I am may try to fit the rear shocks from my MBX6T an see how it works.

Klausen 10.14.2010 11:00 AM

Well a few updates have been added to the project, but still I can't finish the build

The following have been added:

FLM arms
Traxxas CVD's on the 4 corners
Mugen MBX6T front shocks (1 on each corner with 60wt. shockoil)
Proline 40 series road rage on Axial oversize rims, for some onroad racing

I had some issues finding a bearing in 8x15x4 to make the one side of the Traxxas bl-diffs fit the GARC diffcases. These were hopeless to find, and the reason, why I cant show some pictures at the moment. The solution was buying the FLM diffcups and the Traxxas ring gears from Mike, and use those with the GARC diff cases. I haven't recieved those yet, but they are in the mail.

I couldn't just walk away from the Castle sale, so the Tekin RX8 will soon be paired with a Castle 1520 as well.

suicideneil 10.14.2010 11:42 AM

Sounds cool. Traxxas really did do something strange by having different sized bearings on each side of the diff, but FLM cups will work quite nicely to beef up the strength.

Klausen 10.21.2010 10:44 AM

Finally got the truck together again. Ended up using my Moabs on 23 mm. hex's, and for now I am only missing the 1520 motor in stead of the Tekin, but I have recieved it, and it is ready to be mounted.

Here are a few pictures, enjoy

Nice truck! All it needs now is some UE knucleheads ,Titanium skids and 1/8 scale diffs to make it bullet proof. Some RPM skids and bumpers will help protect it also.

Klausen 10.22.2010 11:45 AM

Thanks

You are probably right, but were do I find these knuckles?

I am also thinking about the FLM shocktowers, an a nice body to top it off ;o)

ZippyBasher 10.22.2010 12:15 PM

UE Knucklheads are Unlimited Engineering Shock Towers...:rules:

Kcaz25 10.22.2010 12:26 PM

FLM towers are very adjustable, the most adjustable, but so tall and kinda bulky. BUT they do have wing mounts unlike the better looking stronger shorter knucklehead.
