I just want a good, reliable brushless system
 

I have an E-Maxx that I have done several things to and it is ready for Brushless. It has some aluminum parts, some RPM parts, some titanium parts and some modified parts; all aimed at strength. It weighs about 12 pounds and I am looking for a good, reliable brushless system that is good for bashing and a little racing. I want to be able to use my dual IB4200 7 cell packs and keep everything nice and cool in the Hot Houston Texas sun. I want to be able to set the gearing up and stay in the 40 mph range. Cost is really no object but there is no need to be excessive. Can anyone help me with a good set-up? Motor and controller?

For the weight of the truck I would say you need a xl motor. Since you only running 14 cells I am thinking 8xl or 7xl. If you want a better motor I would say a lehner 1950 6 or 7 turn. The higher number give you a little more run time a little less speed. All the motors can go with higher cell count.

First off - Welcome to the forums. I would agree with coolhandcountry and i would say maybe 9918 warrior controller with an 8XL.

The 7 or 8XL are both awesome, They will both kill a Nitro Truck.

I agree with the others, and I have experience with both motors, 7XL and 8XL, and I also run 14 cells. Altought the 8XL runs a bit cooler on 14 cells, the 7XL is still fine, even in hot weather. A fan is always a good idea, though, and correct gearing too.

If you have the extra bucks, get a Lehner 1950/6 or 7, just as CHC suggested. They are very nice quality motors. I replaced all my Wanderer/Feigaos with Lehner 1950s!

As for controller, for super-hot weather, I would take the 120amp Warrior over the 99amp model. I run mine on the 99 amp one with fans, but I don't live in Texas.

Awesome information everybody...thanks for the help. Are any of the Lehner Basic XL motors comparable to the 1950's? Also, what gearing is good for a nice cool run at 40-42 mph?

the basic xl's arent really comparable to the 1950's the basic xl's are 48mm long and the 1950's are 76mm long

Well put Boss, the XL is much smaller. And the 1950 uses segmented magnets, that make it more suitable on partitial load (less heat)
