E-maxx bulkheads

Any of you guys know about the quality of the GARC bulkheads? How do they compare to FLM?

I am on a new E-maxx project. On my previous I used Hardcore racing bulkheads, but seems like they aren't around anymore.

GARC bulks are pretty good actually... very pricey back in the day... Used a lot with the 'high end' Maxx builds... rigid in design and milled from 7075 aluminum...
The newer FLMs are lighter and are just as strong I think...

A build using GA bulks: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...t=12463&page=4

The Garc's will definitely be stronger just due to the material. But you also pay more for them....I like their stuff, and would have used them if I ever went back to Traxxas stuff.

There are 6061 and 7075 versions. The 7075 version is probably considered the best 'standard' bulkheads you can get for the maxx, second to only the VBS overall. I don't think I've ever seen broken GARC bulks either.

I like Garc 7075 t6 for the front and FLM for the rear as FLM has a 3rd brace point on the rear for the hinge-pin, GARC doesn't. This makes a HUGE difference for me. The lists of differences is pretty big. GARC has a entry hole for the tower screw points, FLM doesn't. FLMs are always 6061, GARC can be 7075. FLM can be littler due to this, FLM will always regardless be lighter because of pocketing and smaller braces. GARC will be always be stronger because of the lack of pocketing. FLM has captured hinge pins using grub screws and does NOT use E-clips, GARC doesn't have this and DOES use E-clips. FLM can sometimes have clogged screw holes, GARC doesn't seem to posses this. FLM almost always has machining marks, GARC doesn't seem to.

FLM also offers Hybrid bulks which GARC doesn't.

Both are great! I've never seen a broken one, except for screws being broken off in them.

I wish I had a VBS.

Can't wait to see your project Klausen

Thanks for the inputs guys. I will most likely go the GARC route, as my project is to build a bulletproof basher.

Just started, but the first link in my signature is how it looks right now.

Will the GARC bulks fit to the FLm extended chassie?

Emaxx_Quebec 06.25.2010 02:04 PM

The lengh of a chassie doesn't affect bulk installation.
YES it'll fit

FLM Builks don't use E clips no more?
When did that happen?
Gee that was only thing I didn't like about them.

Kcaz25 12.17.2010 07:17 PM

You are the first person I've ever heard say that they like E-Clips. Do you know how they secure them? They do it with captured grub screws. I think its superior to E-Clips.

Garc however has always used E-Clips if I'm not mistaken.

coolhandcountry 12.17.2010 07:30 PM

I said it was the one thing I didn't like about them.
