A little disapointed
Seen that a couple of guys here and in Houston had sent back older broken motors (7700kvs) and got back the new style so I sent one of mine back hoping to get one these also.(paid for the repair) but no luck got back an old one, wasn't to happy about that had to put the motor in the car to race this past weekend.

What's the difference?
I would guess they only replace them if they can't be repaired. |
So you weren't happy that you had to keep using the same motor you had been using? I don't get it...

bdebde is probably right, the other guys motors probably couldn't be repaired (or it wasn't cost effective, e.g. worth it for Castle to bother with) so they got new ones. Yours most likely had an issue that could be repaired and that's what they most likely did.
I do agree with What's_nitro, you can't really complain about warrantying your item and getting back the same thing you sent in. I would see getting the new version as a bonus if it worked out that way, not something to be expected. If you were concerned about what you would get back, or wanted to find out if you could get the newer version contacting Castle would have been the thing to do. |
Maybe the O.P was hoping to get a motor with R.O.A.R marks or maybe he wanted something that looked new.

Mine wasnt repaired it had a broken shaft the same as the other guys that sent them in, I got a different motor as well as did the other guys, but they got one of the new ones you can rebuild yourself and I ended up getting another one of the older style motors.

Still, a repair is a repair. If you wanted the newer model, you should have contacted them. They are a great bunch and are always quite helpful!

It really is just luck of the draw when we replace an older style motor. We still have some of the older style motors in stock and those are used interchangeably with the newer style motors. If you send in a newer style motor, then you will get back a newer style motor. If you send in an older style motor, then it's just a crap shoot. If you request a new style motor, we will try to accommodate you as best we can, but we can't guarantee it won't be an older style.
You have a new one year warranty on the replacement motor. So if it ever has a problem within the first year, just get it back to us and we'll take care of you. Thomas Porfert Castle Tech Support |
Thanks Thomas, I guess thats why I am not a gambler, lol

Thank god this wasn't a post about a 1:1 motor on Pirate4x4! They'd make the OP give up the internet and hide in a corner.
RCM isn't a forum for childish behavior. This is a place for the serious hobbiest looking for the best in brushless info. Everyone asks a dumb question now and then, but most grow up and move on. Perpetuating childish behavior will only make you more disappointed with a lack help here. -JB |
