GRP Gandini

http://www.grpgandini.it/index.php?o...emid=6&lang=en

So I have an 1/8 buggy as well as my dad. ( Me-8b1.0 - Dad-Lx-1E). He is running 6s with the 2650kv and keeps blwoing tires off the rims. I am running 4s 2650kv and have no probs.

As to my question. I am pretty sure the GRP Rally (street) tires on the link above are Belted.

Now If anyone knows if the other Offroad tires in the link above are belted?? I was looking at the Caymans in perticular. Anyone have used these? I see in the desrciption it says inner ribbing, but is that like the Rally belting? I only ask because my dads Losi step-pins have "inner ribbing" and blow off pretty easy... Thank You:smile:

Why would you run on 6s 2650 for offroad?

suicideneil 06.27.2010 12:38 PM

Aye, 4s would make much more sense, unless you are aiming for 100mph+ offroad?

ZippyBasher 06.28.2010 09:13 AM

Oh Thanks for such Great answers.

Because he likes to go fast... geared for about 60mph. I dont think that is unreasonable... We like to do offroad drag races.

So anyone that can actually answer the question???

Even still, Running 4s on my rig, I would like belted tires as well. Will still help with tires balooning when unloading to the front...

Look into a hard compound variant of some offroad tires, for example an M2 compound Crime Fighter or something similar.

BTW your sarcasm isn't needed. Being a smartass only gets people to ignore your posts and have a negative attitude right back at you. I have used the CC/Neu 2650 on 6s for a long time and know damn well it is not suited to go 60mph offroad, especially at that voltage. geared at this speed the motor is winding out to hell and beyond and will probably cause issues with heat. A more logical setup would be running in the ~40-45k rpm range and a larger size can to handle the load. For example a 1515 or 1518 can (the 2650 is a 1512 can).

The inner ribbing is meant to help with ballooning. However, it's meant to help at "normal" offroad speeds (I would say < 45mph geared speed), so your Dad will probably have issues with any offroad tire unless you can find one that specifically says "belted"...

...or as was suggested, use a slower setup.

Thats why I asked; the "Rally tires" dont say belted anywhere I saw, but supposedly hold on fine on the 100mph 8ights.

He is a hard ass... He always has to try and be faster than mine and Even when he is running 5s. (50mph) its still too much for his tires.

He is now trying wrapping the tires in wire in between tread. We will see how that goes... I see sliced tires soon....

I am only a smartass when you post but it doesnt mean shit... I am not the one running this setup. I am only asking to help my Father and try and extend our bashing sessions... Thank You.

Oh And I have XTR Crime Fighter and yes they do hold shape well on 4s, but Belted Would be optimal. They still wear premature down the center

no the GRP rally tires have kind of like a honeycomb internal structure, I don't think they even use foams. (havent taken one apart or had one come apart to find out). They are like nothing else on the market and literally feel like shrunken down full-size car tires. They don't balloon AT ALL.

Wire-wrapping has been done on the HPI Phaltline tires before to do speedruns with revo's at over 90mph, mind you on a larger diameter tire. It should work.

Hey man. Sorry if I came across like a douche.

So I hear about the rally tires. Thats why I am hoping the offroad treads are similar, so he can keep his rig together so we can actually bash for more than 1-3 drags... PS Yet he will just keep going...

has he tried taping the inside of the tires with strapping tape ( the ones with threads )
