Hi guys,

has anybody here experimented with the timing on the 9918?
I was told it is factory set at 15°, but can be lowered. How will this affect performance?

It is set at 15 degrees from the factory. The timing works similarly to a brushed motor timing. Advanced yields more rpms and higher amp draw (so lower runtime). Less advance should yield a slightly longer runtime and slightly lower rpms. I haven't tried it myself, though. The timing can only be changed via the programming link to the computer.

If you keep the motors below 190-200 degrees, you should be fine. When you start pushing the temps over 200, you will slowly weaken the magnet.

I´ll ask the same question here, as in another thread.

Will lowering the motor timing significantly help to keep the motor cooler?

In what steps would you decrease the timing??

Reducing the timing will slightly increase your runtime and slightly lower your temps. ther will not be a tremendous diference, though. The programming cable is required to change the timing (or you could send it to me and I could do it for you-although it would be a costly shipping venture!).

As you know I got my previous systems from StarluckRC :o and I also got a cable along with the controllers.
I haven´t hooked it up yet, but I´m looking forward to play with it. Do you have any hints or things I should look out for.
Heck, where do I plug this cable in, btw?? I already discovered the black jumper, do I just have to dig deeper??

So the differences will be small. Would you suggest to put the timing directly down to 5°?

The cable plugs into a printer port on the computer. The plug on the controller that plugs into the receiver plugs into the program cable on the other end, along with a receiver pack. There are only a few settings that can be programmed on the warrior controllers. I haven't played around a lot with the timing (my controllers are set to automatic timing, which optimizes the timing throughout the run). basically, you can play with these settings as you wish, and save each saved setting as a file to retrieve later (like when you find the setting that works best, you can then add it to all your controllers). I assume you downloaded the instructions as well? Also, make sure you don't reverse the connectors (controller and rx pack) when you plug it in to the cable.

I don't know specifically, Daniel. It should automatically optimize the timing through the run, which should optimize the efficiency and minimize the temperatures. I haven't messed with it a whole lot, though.
