Woah a 700XXL! That's a shaft-snapper for sure.

Based on the price alone I would put them between Feigao and Align quality wise. Would you like to be the guinea pig on this one, Bondo?

nitrostarter 07.01.2010 06:18 PM

they look like Neu 1521 and 1527 knock-offs....

Bondonutz 07.01.2010 06:28 PM

YUP, A BIG Guinea Pig.
I dont have miuch faith in the qaulity but again for the price it's certainly worth a risk I reckon ? I ben needing another 1527 w/a lower KV but no one has stepped up to the plate and can't buy from NEU on such short notice. So I guess my 1527 1.5D will go in my TRX Titan boat when it arrives ????

Once my check hits my account tonight I'll be ordering the 700-83 in 975KV for my 1/5 Savage build. Still not for sure what Controller I'm using but I'm planning on 8s and 10s for sure !
I'm making my own chassis (started today)and will have plenty of room for Lipos up front and will make my own center shafts.

Still waiting on my F#*kin' Dirt Oval car from Horizon so I figured might as well to working on sumthin' else ?

Bondonutz 07.01.2010 07:01 PM

This may be a stupid question ?

Will MIKES 1/5 scale Mod-1.5 pinions work with Mod-1 spurs without making a bunch of noise and mesh decently ?
Anybody know ???????
I ask because I want the larger 98mm motor but it's availibe in 8mm shaft only, SHIZ !

What's_nitro? 07.01.2010 07:02 PM

Mod 1.5 has a much larger tooth than Mod 1. I don't think it will mesh at all. That's like trying to mesh 32P to 48P.

Bondonutz 07.01.2010 07:04 PM

Mod1 and 32 pitch kind work together but make a racket, thought I might get lucky since the spur is so thin ?

What's_nitro? 07.01.2010 07:06 PM

Well 32P is technically Mod 0.8. I wouldn't risk it with the power you'll be putting down through that motor.

maybe you could grind the shaft down to 5mm yourself. i have done it with a 6mm KB motor shaft and if i can do it, you can do it. all i used was a dremel against the shaft while it was spinning.

I have a brand new 1521 1.5y (1050kv) w/5mm shaft if you're interested in trying something a little smaller than the 1527 (cheaper than OSE's price). I was going to try it in my build but went with the 1527 instead.

I tried that when I got my 1717, I chucked the rotor in a drill press on low rpm and used high qauilty metal file w/oil bath. It worked but I wasn't real happy w/the end result.
I do however like your idea, might be a little easier to knock the material off ?
Did you just use a sanding drum ??

I appreciate that, I'll keep it in mind.
PM me with what your looking to get out of it.

Thanx

There are a bunch more Typhoon motor sizes here:

http://www.highendrc.com/index_ecat.php?cPath=31_32

Most of them are smaller than the links you listed, but what catches my eye is this:

The 600 size are 6 pole.

Bondonutz 07.01.2010 09:20 PM

The more poles the better huh Sikes ?
