Weird Problem With MMM, 1520 motor and Hyperion Lipos...???
Hi everyone...yesterday i took the truck out to run. Charged up my hyperions and ready to go...
Got to the spot... Plugged my lipos in... turned on the TX, and then the MMM...Beep beep beep... all good... AND THEN upon trying to accelerate it wouldnt. everything was on etc... but it wouldnt accelerate? It was making a noise as if it was a cogging noise when you barely touch the throttle.... I then picked it up off the ground and throttled... The wheels span but i didnt have much power... Then i would put it back on the ground and it would do the same thing... So i swapped the lipos with another set, and the truck worked fine.... I put the hyperions back in and it did the same thing... After 10mins of messing around and scratching my head... it suddenly started working???? But then randomly it would stop and do it again.... Its hard to explain but considering how many rc users are here, someone must have experienced a weird problem like this??? |
It sounds like the cogging you get in brushless systems with batteries that can't provide the needed current (like NiMH's). I have no idea why it would do it with your Hyperions though.
hmmm... it was really really wierd.
I thought it was a problem with the MMM, but it worked fine immidiately with my cheaper lipos and it did work with the hyperions but acted very weird at the same time... Do you think my lipos are failing after around 30 charges? Will hyperion help me out do you think? |
I might have guessed a loose connection. Have you checked?
I'd say a bad connection on battery - did you solder your own ends on?
No the connections are perfect...
No connection problems... My first bet was probably something had come loose on the MMM from the jumps i have been doing recently... but thats not the case. MY LHS did my soldering of the bullets on my lipos and my MMM so its a nice soldering job. |
Hi,Ask where you boughtb the lipos ,if they'll replace them(and hyperion) It's your luck, push it if you want, lol
i got them directly from hyperion europe
I'm still sticking with connectors - I would ask the shop to at least try redoing them...
hmmm ok... Well i will have an even closer when i get home... It is either the lipo or the connection between the lipo and MMM... So ill have a look considering my other lipos worked fine without any probs...
Sounds close to what my MMP is doing recently, Was it like the radio was glitching sometimes?
ummm... radio glitching...??? well maybe it is similar but it is nothing to do with my radio. But my radio has been glitching more and more. For example you go to accelerate and it doesnt, then all a sudden the truck goes crazy for a split second...

You legend!!! thats exactly what is happening to mine!!!! It behaves just like that!!! So maybe one of my big jumps ther other day must have caused some damage to teh connector, and when i thought i had hit LVC it was actually a problem with the lipo connector haha So this is easy to rectify correct??? EDIT: But if this is a connection problem, wouldnt i have charging problems as well? I have been able to balance charge my hyperion lipos absolutely fine even with this possible connection problem...??? |
Charging is done at much lower currents than what you can pull from these batts when driving. You obviously have some connection, since you can get it to work somewhat, so it can charge - just has trouble putting out high amps.
