Import Tax?

Hi there. Just tracked my package and noticed that it will arrive tomorrow, however, it has been charged customs tax.

Has anyone else been caught out with this?

Mike - I'm assuming it was not marked as a gift?

HotnCold 04.05.2006 08:40 AM

Where were the products shipped to? And were these gifts. If someone is caught doing what you suggested in your post it would literally be a shat ( you know the word i mean ) storm of legal issues as well as a federal offence. I doubt Mike is going to risk his livelyhood to save a couple of dollars. Im sure the prices you paid were low enough to cover the pennies of tax. We hope we have your understanding in this matter.

Yer I got some import tax when I orderd, was about £30 when i got my motor and esc, but you can expect that ordering from america.

Darren 04.05.2006 09:42 AM

Yeah I understand it 'HotnCold', just that alot of companies will mark it as a gift.

They were shipped to the UK.

The tax will be around £40 at least, which is $70, depending on how kind they are.

E-maxx-kid, i've bought lots of stuff from america, once I got 3 engines in one box, no charge.

Just remembered darren I remeber you from the days of emaxx-online, me and you had the hv's.

Normal to get import fee's. I paid 150€(200$'ish) on a stormerhobbies order worth 500$. It suck's, but there is no good way around it. Even the gift trick doesn't work anymore. You should tag it something like "Demo material with no commercial value", that seem's to work sometime's.

But anyhow, don't trust all them way's to get around import fee's. It won't work. And like hotncold said, if you get caught, the fee's will be higher.

E-Maxx-Kid - I think i remember you, you got a gorillamaxx chassis right? I've still got the HV, its just that i've bought another maxx to supermaxx it :).

The Gift trick seems to work for me, maybe i'm lucky?

maxxdude1234 04.05.2006 01:45 PM

I've had loads of stuff come from the US, and never been taxed. Maybe I'm just lucky... :)

E-maxx-kid 04.05.2006 01:46 PM

yer, candyman used to take the piss out of your 42mph you claimed from your hv lol

E-maxx-kid 04.05.2006 01:47 PM

Ive probs paid about 150 now in customs fee's over my last few orders from america.

Darren 04.05.2006 02:24 PM

Yeah, I still hold myself to that claim though.

$150 or $150 ?!

E-maxx-kid 04.06.2006 03:12 AM

£150

Darren 04.06.2006 06:44 AM

Ouch.

Just back from parcelforce depot, apparently I need to await a letter from customs before I can collect it. Though on the site it says.

I remember that argument. I think it was more that he ws using the stock gears when everyone(including novak was telling people to use a different gear) besides i think its possible to get 40 out of the system with the proper setup
