Problems W/ brushless motor need help! Pleaze!

I put a 3cell lipo in my 4x4 Slash for the first time yesterday....Ran fine with stock Motor and ESC...A Friend of mine gave me a Aveox 36/24/1.5 Motor to put in it...Now I have installed this motor with the VXL ESC and when I give the truck full throttle its like the motor is "Hitting a rev-limiter" in a way...When it goes past about 60% throttle it starts doing it all the way to full throttle...I know it sounds weird but i cant think of any other way to describe the issue i am having....

I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions...I am new to the brushless world, Ive been converted from Nitro and still learning the electric stuffs.. :mdr:

Aveox is a 4 pole motor right? The vxl esc has an rpm limit, and using a 4 pole motor means the esc is seeing an rpm level 2 times higher than it actually is, so the esc throttles back the motor when you excede that limit. Stick to 2 pole motors with the vxl esc, or upgrade to a better esc like the MMpro.

The mamba max pro would be a very good choice for this truck. You could even run sensored motors and go up to 6s with it, given the motor can handle it.

That is correct Neil!

I've tried running a couple Neu's on a VXL esc and no such luck...

the rx8 is overkill for this truck and doesn't have some of the nice tuning features that the MMP comes with.another nice bonus is the price. the MMP is much cheaper than the rx8. the only downside of getting the MMP is not being able to run it in truggies.

I was planning on the MMP but I just purchased a Trug and want something that i can swap back and forth depending on what I want to run on that particular weekend...
