a super-dee duper dumb computer question
I started charging my transmitter via an usb port on my laptop.
Will the usb port still provide power if I shut my laptop off? I don't want to interupt the charge cycle. |

I wonder how many will shut down to figure this out for you:lol:

if it shuts down power when you close it/shut it off, you might want to consider one of these
First one I found - There may be better/cheaper ones out there - http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.41025 http://www1.dealextreme.com/producti...ku_41025_1.jpg I have a similar device for charging my ipod. I couldn't live without it. |

My Hp laptop won't power anything when it is in standby, so that would be a no.
|
i'll have to stay up then
|
Why do you have to stay up?

Go to best buy and get an apple brand iPod charger? They are cheap and it should work.--Josh

Yeah, most laptops won't power the USB port when they sleep or are turned off. Some of the newer ones have a cool "Sleep-n-Charge" feature that will power one USB port while the computer sleeps. Definitely not a feature to buy a new laptop for tho.
Just about any USB charging wall wart should work with it. I found that my iPod doesn't like my Chinese brand USB charger, however, so I'm not sure if the transmitter cares what it is plugged into. And what's wrong with leaving the laptop on to charge the transmitter? Just close the lid and it won't use hardly any extra power if no programs are running. Brijar!!! |
