that alot of people are running lipos with out a balancer,even the orion lipo pack dosent even have the option for one. i thought this was a nono, cause if one cell in the pack over charged cause of a imbalance poof there goes your 100 pack. how important is a balancer

I used to use my Astroflight Blinky Balancer, but for some reason it seems to like to balance the 4th cell a lot, even when it isn't out of balance. Now, I just check the individual cell voltages during a charge. My 4s pack has amazingly stayed in very good balance, but if it were to go out, I'd charge the cells individually. Sometime I really should buy the Hyperion balancer, though.

the production quality of lipoly cells is very good. the differences are minimal. but like Metalmen said in another topic; the smallest imbalance will result in a bigger imbalance every single charge/use..

So How often should you check it? About every 2-3 charges be good with no balancer.

the problem im having is trying to find a lipo pack that will fit in this rs4 mt of mine. ive found a pack that will fit nicly but im worried about the amp rating on it. its the 4000mah 3s lipo from maxx amps if you look at it it will only do 64 amps burst :026: thats alittle low for me. how would i go about charging each sell if there isent a set of taps on the pack at all:032:

If not taps and no balance plug. I would think you can't without taking the pack apart.

The Maxamps pack should work fine. The 64amp burst rating is a rating on bursts, which might last from 5-10sec. Those cells will be capable of higher peak amp draws (which is what our motors pull anyways).
On the website there should be an option to add taps to the pack. If there isn't, then contact Maxamps about it. The taps style that works the most universally is the one for the Hyperion balancer. Then, you can do what I did and get a male connector with the proper pin spacing (the type of male plug that CPU fans use on the motherboard).

ya they have a option for hyperon taps for there balancer. cool i was worried about that amp rating but not any more :027: im gunna have to order me up that back and go pick it up :018:
