making a bulit proof wheelie bar for my maxx

so far this is what i've got:

This is the real wheelie bar that i'm mounting on the car:

i'm going to use the non-removable threadlock on the nuts to hopefully keep them from working off, if that doesn't work, i'll try to find some lock nuts that size. not too sure how i'm going to mount that big rod to the back of the car though. maybe get some big zip ties and go crazy? haha

Bullet Proof with Zip Ties ??:rofl::rofl:

Drill and tap 3 holes in the bar and use screws coming from the side held by bumper mount through skid plate and lastly threading into the bar... But... That bar is a bit much? LOL

Kinda seems like you would wheelie more with all the weight back there... It does look beefy, though.

A RC Dude 07.28.2010 11:25 PM

yea, it's probably overkill, but i'm sick a flipping one time and the wheelie bar being bent to peices. and i wouldn't mind it wheelieing a little more as long as it has something solid to wheelie on

yeaaa.....but if you think about it, using zip ties couse a weak point if something tries to pull the bar off the back end of the truck. but how is their going to be such a force like that when the bar is smaller than the truck itself and will only get hit from behind? it could take one heck of a lot of force from behind.

Talking about Lincpimp? It's all true!

Dude, that bolt is big enough just drill holes through that and the plate and use screws and nuts.

and that's what i dicided to do last night. been working on it but it takes forever to drill those holes threw that bar

You're probably done by now... but get yourself some cobalt drill bits. Sears has them- they work well.

ZippyBasher 07.29.2010 11:51 PM

Your Welcome... Lol Lets see the end results.

A RC Dude 07.30.2010 03:11 PM

wow, sorry Zippy! i must have compleatly missed your post. :oh: my bad! i ended up just doing 2 holes but they have big bolts threw them haha

nitro-i would love to get some of those! i've always wanted to but the way my family's money situation is, i dought it'll happen soon.

i also cut another alum plate for the bolts to hold onto:

update: put 3 screws attaching the alum plate to the skid too

No problem Man. Whats cool about that setup is you can space the wheels how you like it! Looks Good. Should get some Great Wheelies!

A RC Dude 07.31.2010 02:03 PM

haha true, but i think i'm just going to put the wheels beside the mounts so i can cut as much of the bar off as possible to save weight.

i've decided to drill threw the nuts and bar and put a pin threw them to keep them from trying to work their way off.
