shorting out?
i have had my 3.3 conversion for awhile now with no problems, and the other day i upgraded my single servo to a hitec 7955 and the things a beast, but now my truck will shut down for no reason but esc fan will stay on, is the 7955 trying to pull to much power from my traxxas 2.4? im running a 3s 5400,
What esc. are you using?
traxxas link 2.4
Traxxas link 2.4 is a receiver not an esc. What esc ( speed control ) are you using?
my bad im running a vxl on 3s, its been hot here lately is it possible the first stage of thermal is not working?
Where to start! first off your using a measely 1/10 esc to push a Monster truck. Second is that 3s is really not enough to push around that heavy monster truck. Third your servo may be pulling way to much current because the bec in the speed control was only meant for use in 1/10 scale and that servo on a MT is gonna pull more current than a servo in a 1/10 stdium truck will. If you can spend the money on a killer servo then why not spend some on a proper esc?

because i had the vxl, stuck it in there to see what happens, its real fast and fun as hell to drive, i get good run times and didnt pay $1 for it, already had aluminum diff cups and cases, have not busted anything in the drivetrain. it runs awsome, i know i will get bashed but have been in rc a long time and can say its fast

i never said a monster wouldnt be a better choice, i simply put together what i had and its decent, way faster than a 3905, i just bash. i can always upgrade
Sorry if that came off as harsh but those where all things that came to mind immedietly
Would like to add that the BEC in the VXL ESC is linear, therefore very inefficient, especially on 3s with a powerful servo (pulls a lot of current).
Buy another vxl system, run them in parallel, a la 'V-twin' style, & add a decent BEC to power the rx & servo
Sad thing is it would actually work fairy well.... |
 i dont mind picking up a mamba monster, i know im pushing the vxl beyond its limits, i guess i will have a brushless sytem for a slash soon :mdr:
while you're at it, get the cc2200 combo. it comes with the motor as well that is well suited for a monster truck like the revo. you might want to run 4s lipo was well. 3s just doesn't cut it.
edit: your problems are indeed caused by the BEC in the esc not being able to power that servo. you can wire up an external BEC as a bandaid, but you will still have to eventually upgrade to a proper setup. |
