Mamba Monster Amp rating?
I was wondering what the BURST rating of the Mamba Monster AMP is.
|
Something like 500 or 600 amp ? Depends of what you call "burst".
|
Was looking around at some info on what sort of amp rating the 1527/1y might kick up to, so I was just wondering about the burst rating of the mamba monster amp and what it could handle in worst case scenarios.
|
The amp draw doesnt depend of the motor but of the application. A 1527/1Y will not consume the same amp in a 1:8 scale buggy or in a 20 lbs monstertruck, depending of the gearing and the acceleration ...
Anyway, the max continuous current of the 1527/1Y is the same of the 1515/1Y and of all the 15xx/1Y series. But its not the current that the motor draws, it's the max continuous current that the motor can handle without burning. |
Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. I'm waiting for info on the diff ratio and final ratios etc on the Genesis differentials and transmission, but in the meantime I checked out the Flux tranny and gears with 12 pinion and 60 spur, aimed at 30mph top speed and 3 second to get there, and it only drew 30 amps. That would be a nice setup, sort of slow but ah well.
I'm guessing monster truck differentials are somewhat similar, so I'm estimating that I should be safe with a low pinion like 12 and 60 spur. |
Best solution is to try, don't hesitate to use punch control, it reduces a lot the spikes during kick-downs. Start for example with 80% and gear the truck for 30-35mph. It will be on 6S ? What the average weight of the truck ?
|
Yes, 6s and it will probably weigh around 18lbs once I've installed everything. Waiting for the stuff still.
|
I am pretty sure you can gear it for 35-40mph without issues. The mamba monster can handle the amp draw of a E revo (11lbs) geared for 70-75mph on 6S.
|
Sounds good. A 18lbs truck running around at 75mph would be a little scary.. haha. :p
Should be possible with the 1527, no ? But I'm guessing I'd need a veery special esc. If anything can handle that. |
With proper cooling, and BIG BIG BIG ESC everything is possible. But without cooling a 1527/1Y should do anyway some speed runs at more than 100mph without overheating and with the proper ESC. All we need to do is to check the temps.

Ok, thank you. Looks like a 12 pinion on 6s with mamba monster will be fine then.
